Its not so much the 60's music I was talking about. I shoulda been more clear... Its rock ballads I dont see so much. I know there are a few out there who do but many come into other stuff, I know its a personally thing I just wondered if any had insight to why.
I hate country too, Matt Hughes as a good entrance tho. Its just one of those songs you hear hit and your like **** yeah. Maybe I have different taste.. the whole idea of this thread came from me listening to Vodoo Chile by Hendrix and I said to myself this would be a great entrance song for any MMA fighter.

Wrong, Dana picks all the fighter entrance themes, if you do a search, there is a thread about this, someone even asked about how Cro Cop was going to feel about Dana picking his music.

Actually yes, you are supposed to pay into ASCAP, where do you think all these stars make their royalties from, unfortunately it's very hard to enforce and that's why wedding dj's get away with it, but radio stations have to pay into ASCAP.

Wrong. Dana picks the "no namer" or whatever you might call them guys. He doesnt pick everyones.
Do your research, I've actually asked more than one UFC fighter this personally

Ok... I dont know anything about radio stations. I admit this.
BUt youre telling me that radio stations PAY to play songs?
LMAO
Come on dude?
"royalties" come from sales and concert events.
ASCAP
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers
"ASCAP's licensees encompass all who want to perform copyrighted music publicly. ASCAP makes giving and obtaining permission to perform music simple for both creators and users of music."
They do what you say they do. BUt only if the musician is a member. Also I realllllly doubt anyone wants 100K to play thier song. I think you can HIRE a band to play live for less than that.

Anyone using a copyrighted song and is making money off the song must pay into ASCAP, but like I said earlier it is very hard to enforce, songwriters and singers have sued people and have won for someone "sampling" their music without permission or paying royalties...Don't you remember the big stink Metallica made because people were downloading their music without paying, they were not just pissed because of lost sales and were also pissed beacuse Napster and other sites like that were not paying ASCAP, they were missing out on a ton of royalties,if you play a song as an entrance theme you don not have to pay a royalty but if it's used as the theme of a show or event over and over, you must pay a royalty... you can beleive or not,I really don't care but that is the truth.
