Saw this mentioned, found it pretty neat. Thought I'd share with you guys here.
BJ Penn - Former LW and WW Champ
Shogun Rua, Rashad Evans, Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture = LHW Champ
Rich Franklin = MW Champ
Randy Couture = HW Champ
Would a victory over Couture give Machida a victory over a former Champion in five weight classes, would he also be the first man to pull off such a feat?
Beating a guy in BJ Penn who's 50 lbs lighter than you, Rich Franklin a division north of his best weight, and a 50 year old man way past his prime isn't really impressive.
The only other guy I could see possibly doing this is Anthony Johnson, since he can fight at WW but also HW. I'm not saying he's skilled enough, but his range in weight classes makes it possible.
got nothing against machida... but really not even that impressive of a statistic.
Plus its not like he beat a "lightweight" BJ, BJ went into that fight weighing 190 pounds + ??? someone correct me if im wrong. this makes this statistic all the more useless and unimpressive.
@roflcopter
no i cannot convinced the majority of people
but i rewatched the fight at least 5 times and i can really agree y they gave machida the win
every round i count leg kicks and punches that connects
Well then you need to brush up on your counting skills and math, because Shogun clearly out struck Machida by a decent enough margin. Shogun landed more shots and he landed the harder shots, he was robbed of a decision.
You can watch the fight with or without commentary as many times as you like, the better fighter that night was clear.
Fan boys are ridiculous. I don't understand why people can't be fans of fighters but not have a biased opinion and be realistic about what actually happens.
Maybe i should watch the fight without the commentary as well. I'm more than sure that watching a fight without commentary can change my opinion about the outcome.
That is a cool Machida fact stat, but he hasn't defeated Couture yet.
And not to revisit past debates but it's a fact, at 104 Machida got TIMED, plain and simple, commentary or no commentary. He got punished for nearly every attack he made, most of his shots were blocked and when he did land anything, Rua kept pushing forward being the aggressor, controlling him on the fence. It was obvious who took the most damage in that fight.
Then at 113 Rua switched on Blitzkrieg mode and timed Lyoto again.

LMAO^^ Lyoto was winning that fight until Rua landed and Lyoto didn't. It was a lucky overhand right, if Lyoto had landed his straight left and wouldn't have been so impatient, then the fight outcome would have been different most likely.
LOL. Neg rep me all you want for citing an OPINION on the matter, but it doesnt change a thing.
Machida fans can be incredibly sensitive.
