I noticed that L on his record but haven't seen the fight. What happened? Did Boeck get rocked and then submitted or did he just get out grappled on the ground and subbed?

Honestly I never saw the fight until you asked then, but I looked it up:

Skipped the first round (because I don't really care about Danzig OR Bocek) but Danzig beats him up on the ground pretty badly.
edit: in round three Danzig actually nearly submits Bocek with a gogoplata. epic.

Cheers, just watched it, I'm that much more confident Bendo will take this now. Although that fight was some time ago and I've only seen 3 Boeck fights, he isn't the wizard on the ground I thought he was.
Henderson has the wrestling and superior stand up to make this a comfortable win.

Bocek looked superb against Jim Miller but was completely ROBBED of a win by the judges. If he was able to takedown and control someone like Miller, Henderson should be a piece of cake.
Bocek via submission.

I wouldn't take Bocek's loss to Danzig into a lot of consideration, especially when you skip the first round. He was beating Danzig on the ground, but then got caught by a big knee in the second round and got tooled from there. It wasn't his lack of grappling skills that lost him the fight, it was all the damage he took up until that point. He wasn't able to fully recover after that knee. Danzig was by no means the better grappler on that night. That was also 3 years ago, so it's safe to say that he has improved a lot since then. I don't think that he is the best BJJ fighter at lightweight, but he is solid on the ground. People thought Hazelett was going to submit him, but Bocek embarrassed him on the ground. His fight with Miller was close, who is also solid on the ground.
This fight is hard to call in my opinion.

Hazelett is also a part time fighter and a full time college kid on a two fight losing streak, currently cut from the UFC.
Bocek's overrating his own groundgame and I expect him to pay for it in this fight. The WEC lightweights have basically been cleaning house too.

That doesn't take away the fact that people were like "rubber guard ftw" before they fought. Bocek easily shrugged off Hazeletts rubber guard attempt and proceeded with a submission win in the first round. Hazelett was cut by the UFC, but he still had a solid ground game that a lot of fighters would worry about if they fought him.
I agree that Bocek is overrating his own ground game, but at least he is confident in it. He is great on the ground, but I don't see him doing anything special against guys like Penn or Aoki, who actually are some of the best BJJ fighters at 155. (When Penn fights at 155, that is.) Either way, he won't be a walk in the park for Henderson. I just hope that he is working on his guillotine choke defense. It would be disappointing to see a potentially great ground battle be cut short by a quick guillotine choke because Bocek was too arrogant about his own skills and took Henderson's ground abilities lightly. I could see either of them winning.
This fight has a lot of potential to be great and I see it going the distance.
