Multi-time UFC Champion Vitor Belfort revealed through his twitter account about being diagnosed with Hepatitis A. Belfort explained that the disease is easy to treat, also reassuring his fans that the fight against Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 133 (August 6 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) will go as planned.
Thirty-four year old Belfort is currently 19-9 in his illustrious Mixed Martial Arts career, after losing to Anderson Silva in his last fight at UFC 126.
Here's some of Belfort's latest tweets (via MiddleEasy.com):
I like the way Vitor refers to the Hepatitus as 'her'. Like some mythical satanic creature whos inhabited his soul and he needs some shiney dude with a beard who sits around on a cloud to come down to Earth to perform some sort of elaborate exorcism. As JK would say, put something on the end of it!!
I don't know portuguese but it's likely a latin language, I know in french there's no such thing as "neutral" gender (like dodge, never neutral lol), it's either male or female, even for things.
So this might be an easy mistake to make, at least for a french guy (if they spoke english that is), maybe it's the same for portuguese, which would explain the "her"
shit man. with as much blood that is swapped in the cage through cuts and stuff when these guys fight sexyama may be in bad shape if this fight doesn't end quickly.
The "her" is explained by a personification of the disease, not by linguistic reasons.
Why did Belfort did it? better ask him, by i bet it´s easy for him this way since he has something to fight against.
That sucks for Vitor, but also Akiyama. I'm guessing he has the option to turn down the fight if he wants to because of this, but so far it appears nothing has changed...
From what I read it's not permanent. Hepatitis A accounts for about 50% of known viral hepatitis cases in the United States each year. In the United States it is estimated that about 80% of persons over 60 years of age have previously been exposed to hepatitis A at some point in their lives. Most people are not aware they have had hepatitis A.
Man I really hope Jesus treats Belfort's hepatitis in time for the Akiyama fight. It sucks that Akiyama is going to lose though because Belfort obviously has more prayers for him than Akiyama does, which will ultimately be the deciding factor.
Belfort wins in Round 1 via prayer/hepatitis infection
Well, we all know Jesus can cure illness/sickness/injuries, just look at all the helpless amputees who live much better lives after he replaced their destroyed limbs after he made the call to get their limbs destroyed in the first place.
I thought this was a thread about Belfort and his amazing hands.
