Sanchez will never be champ!
The more that I think about it, the more probable it seems that Diego will never wear gold in the UFC. GSP is so young and only getting better, and he's already on another level than Diego. GSP is bigger, stronger, just as fast and determined, and much more well-rounded. He will never beat GSP. What is more, BJ Penn is determined to recapture the welterweight title. If Diego ever steps into the octagon with a focused BJ, he will be carried out. The only way I can see Diego beating BJ is if BJ is horribly out of shape, but I think the BJ who lost to GSP at 58 would own Sanchez. Diego is way too big to be lightweight and way too small to be a middle weight. Diego has a lot of potential, but it is doubtful he could even beat Hughes.

Penn is out of shape in most of his fights. GSP is injury proned(shorten career possibly). Diego is really young still. NEVER is along time. Are we seeing Diego on top of his potential yet? I doubt it.

As far as I know, the only fight BJ has ever lost due to gassing was the GSP fight. Maybe I'm wrong? Are there any others? Please don't even bring up Hughes-Penn2.

This one is hard. First off BJ is fighting in the lightweight division at the finale of TUF thsi coming season. Meaning we should see the first in shape BJ in quite some time. If he wins this fight against Pulver, Sherk has already expressed interest in fighting the winner. This would be a horrible match up for Sherk. I can't see BJ trying to go up to welterweight if he captures the lightweight title, unless he is just trying to capture both?
Secondly, did you watch the GSP vs. Penn fight? Had Penn not gassed out, GSP got royally F'ed up! GSP is the man, don't get me wrong, but Penn is one hell of a rounded fighter, and in shape he is a natural light weight, with the BEST BJJ anywhere and one hell of a standup game!
Diego is still evolving as a fighter. Yes he is too big to be a lightweight and too small to be a welterweight...but he is young too! He has a lot of time to put on that man muscle. Fighters don't reach there prime until their 30's..kind of scary to think of what GSP and Diego will be doing then!
I agree that as of right now, he cannot beat Hughes. I know people will say to the contrary, but quit hating because he lost one fight. He got cocky, he thought his standup was better than it was from everyone nuthuggung him, and he got KTFO! Lesson learned!

The Machida fight. Though, I give Penn a ton of credit for stepping up and facing someone who is a lot bigger than him. Machida is no slouch either. Penn even won the first round in that fight.

I have much respect for GSP and Penn, as I see you do but you need to watch Diego Sanchez a little closer. Penn or GSP ain't beaten Diego in Round 1. I would be shocked if any of these three guys faced off and finished the other. Diego Sanchez may not beat GSP (I am starting to tailgate now for it) but GSP will damn sure look human after the fight. GSP is not "on another level" from Penn or Diego. These three and Karo Parisyan, Jon Fitch, Kos, etc. are going to keep us all entertained for a long time.

To say Diego will NEVER be WW champ is silly, but I understand where your commin from in respect to not being able to beat GSP, Hughes im not so convinced and BJ will be a lightweight for a lil while.
