Aldo vs Mendes expected for Ufc 133 in Philly

Another card starts to fill out.

Featherweight Championship bout: Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes
Light Heavyweight bout: Phil Davis vs. Rashad Evans
Light Heavyweight bout: Antônio Rogério Nogueira vs. Rich Franklin
Middleweight bout: Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama

Welterweight bout: Dennis Hallman vs. Brian Ebersole
Middleweight bout: Rafael Natal vs. Riki Fukuda
Middleweight bout: Jorge Rivera vs. Alessio Sakara

"UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is expected to face Chad Mendes at UFC 133 in Philadelphia. The possible fight was announced via the post-fight press conference, and would likely headline the UFC’s return to Philadelphia.

Aldo is fresh off last night’s “Fight of the Night” victory over challenger Mark Hominick. Aldo was noncommittal when asked about the fight stating:

“To me, I’m not sure if that’s the fight or not. I just want to take a week off and just think about it and rest my body. But I’m an employee, and whoever [Dana White] wants me to fight, that’s who I’ve got to go and take out. So I’m prepared to fight whoever they put in front of me any time.”

Mendes is undefeated in his fight career and coming off a victory in his UFC debut against Michiro Omigawa. The Team Alpha Male product was 4-0 in his WEC career before the promotion was folded into the UFC.

While UFC 133 is still technically unofficial, the featherweight championship scrap is expected to join an already stacked card with bouts with Phil Davis versus Rashad Evans, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira versus Rich Franklin, and Vitor Belfort versus Yoshiro Akiyama."

Are people forgetting that Aldo has destroyed 2 wrestlers - arguably better than Mendes - in Brown and Faber? Neither could get the TD, and the only reason Hominick got it was because Aldo was completely gassed (and sick, as I've heard). Don't get me wrong, I really like Mendes, but I can't see him winning this fight ... or even scoring a TD for that matter.

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig

If Faber couldnt hang with Aldo, what makes anybody think his inferior Alpha Male teammate will? Chalk up another exciting title defense , WAR ALDO

'Cos his inferior teammate actually leans on his strong wrestling base and doesn't instead abandon that background and come out throwing looping overhand punches and spinning back elbows... (ala Faber)

That being said...

War Aldo!

Good God the UFC stacks almost every single card nowadays. I'm loving this card. I wish Mendes could get another fight or two before taking on Aldo, but there isn't anyone else more deserving.

Mendes is a very good wrestler, but not elite enough to beat Aldo with it. I think Aldo is able to keep it standing for most of the fight and TKOs him in the middle rounds.

Great news, I want Aldo fighting as much as possible as he's on of my favorites... And now that Rashad isn't in a title-match anymore Aldo gets to close the show, freakin' awesome!

I think your to hard on Philly. If you ever watched ECW wrestling in its day despite the fact that they could be bloodthirsty they also greatly respected a technical back and forth match. I would assume that Philly would be a smart crowd when it comes to mma as well.

Bellator 33 in Philly actually wasn't bad at all but it had Alvarez and it was Bellator so i think there was more Hardcore fans.
