Sickness slowed Jose Aldo down at UFC 129

Jose Aldo dominated the first round of his UFC 129 bout against Mark Hominick. Shortly after the second round started though, the champion seemed visibly tired. Commentator Joe Rogan speculated that it could be a result of a bad weight cut, bringing up that Aldo was light headed and had to excuse himself during the Q&A portion that featured the 7 UFC champs. It seems that wasn't the case though.

BE Reader fafefifofo, brought up that right before Rogan interviewed Aldo, he complained to his corner that he should have taken antibiotics. Bloody Elbow's Tom Mendes of Brazil was able to confirm this. Here's a translation of the cornerman's reply to Jose Aldo:

"Antibiotics would not have helped at all, you’re the champion kid, **** antibiotics, everything is okay. You fought well, smooth and composed. "

Aldo made no mention of this on the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. This of course could be because he didn't take anything away from the very game Mark Hominick who took the fight to him, and showed a tremendous amount of heart and determination.

Before any one jumps on Aldo for making up excuses remember that Aldo didn't say anything to the press. He just made a comment in Portugese to his trainer, that happened to be caught by the camera, which happened to be translated by a Brazilian

Beat me to it.

Sickness or not...this fight was *SICK*,

Fight Of The Year so far for me.

Excellent call from the fight doctor to let the fight go to the 5th round.

PS: Hominick living up to his nickanem - The Machine - a true warrior

I knew something was wrong, Aldo has always been game and he didn't look like himself in the end. Hominick brought the fight to him though.

Sick or not he put on a fantastic fight. Defending his belt against a game and talented fighter like Hominick whilst being sick is very impressive.

I did noticed they talking abot antibiotics when Aldo´s corner man was putting his shirt on him, but it´s not clear if he was asking for then before or immediately after the fight.
The part of him saying he should have taken antibiotics seems like a little bit of a conjecture from the part of the translator as there´s nothing caught on camera that explicit.
It probably represents the truth though!

Anyway, anyone knows if the antibiotics would flash something on the dope tests, or if it could/would change his physical ability on fight night?

McCall, Faber, Aldo, Nate, Nick, Lyoto, TBD, Hunt
Forever hanging in Anderson Silva nuts

Aldo is probably one if not THE toughest guy out there. What he has been through in life already.. and now he's at the top. A Sickness can't stop this man!

Aldo will certainly be one of the greatest ever!

I was even very impressed with his head movement and Boxing overall against such a tough opponent in Hominick who possess really good Hands.

Mendez is gonna be a great test for him as well. The Wrestling and everything Great fight!

You're not supposed to do heavy work when you're on antibiotics. I guess fighting falls under that category.
