Good move by Nate. With the right diet he wouldn't feel as drained as he did in the past. Honestly, if you're rail thin and have a muffin top at 170 you should be fighting in a lower weight class.

Yeah, that'd be insane.

He needs to go back down to Lightweight, but I don't see him having any more success than he is now, I think Guillard would take a rematch.

If you're rail thin at one weight class you shouldn't move down a class, you should add on muscle IMO.

So true.

I thought WW was a good weight for him, in terms of him not being drained from the weight cut.
But the reality is, i never expected him to achieve great things at WW. That division is full of HUGE *weight-cutters*, who can bully him arounf like a doll.

People who are jumping ahead and calling his return to LW so bad - especially regarding the weight-cut issue - should consider this:

Nate Diaz: 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) @ 155 lbs (70 kg)

Pablo Garza: 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) @ 145 lbs (66 kg) - and he hasn't shown proof of being to drained after his weight-cut.

Proof that Diaz could have a more than normal cut to 155, without hurting his energy levels.

.

BELIEVE!

I'd be all for him hitting the weights and adding strength but doubt he wants to do it. He looks like me when I was 14. Scrawny with hardly any core strength. To be suplexed once is bad enough but three times? That's got to be embarrasing.

I don't necessarily think it's as much of a weight issue as it is a lack of wrestling issue. The whole Cesar Gracie camp confuses me. Nick Diaz is one of the best strikers in MMA, regardless of how awkward it is. However, his wrestling is non-existant. Jake Shields is probably the best grappler in MMA. Both his wrestling and JJ are top notch. but his striking is as bad as Diaz's lack of wrestling. It's painful to watch. I've been taking TKD and kickboxing for 5 years and I honestly think I'm a better striker than Jake. Hell, I could outstrike Jake while pregnant I bet.

Nate Diaz needs to learn how to wrestle. In every sense, otherwise he's going to have trouble no matter what weight class he is in.

Beat me to it. His problem is that both LW and WW are jammed with big (for their weight class) wrestlers that are bad match ups for him. He'll probably fare slightly better at LW since he won't get absurdly out muscled like he did against MacDonald but size isn't the issue, or not the main one anyway.
