What no way BJ could cut down to 145. The man was a massive 5'9" 155 lbs with almost no fat. What successful FWs do you know that are that tall and built? The man would be a drained up mess at 145. It'd be like Anthony Johnson, with worse cardio.
This is one of the things that irks me about the North American MMA and combat sport scene. It's like whenever someone good loses, they're automatically fighting above their weight class, and should now turn themselves into an anorexic mess. Never mind that their performance would probably drop and they'd lose worse at the lower weight due to the cut.
It's like the opposite of the Japanese combat sports, where smushy fatties like Nakamura will fight at LHW and HW when they could probably cut to WW and do pretty well.
I guess it's hard to find the middle ground.
