I got the same feeling watching them.
A lot of mutual respect between them and it seems as though they *can make fun* of this situation.
I remember when Silva first said he wouldn't fight Jones because their good friends...and so many people seemed to be going with the whole: "ooohh, they know eachother for only a while and their good friends?! how is that possible?! it's just a sign of being scared..."
bla bla bla...
Imo the truth is, fans get to see less than 20% of what's going on with these guys - the fighters: what kind of people they are in reality.
Sometimes, i just get the impression, fans really percieve these guys just as fighters (not human beings), unable to develop any kind of relationships between them outside of the cage.
Phrases like "let them fight and be friends after" are too common these days and too many people use them to justify having a personal wish granted.
I also am curious on seeing who would win a MMA fight between these two, tbh.
But i can always respect either one of them saying: "we're friends and we don't wanna fight".
Is that opinion too hard to understand?! And respect?!
MMA fighters may be labeled as modern day gladiators (as seen on all UFC's PPV introductions), but the truth is, there's a BIG difference between gladiators and MMA fighters: gladiators were slaves and they had no choice: fight or die.
MMA fighters are free men and as far as i concerned, every man decides for himself.
