Shogun talks Lyoto’s ‘Karate Kid’ kick on Couture: “It was beautiful”
Quote:
By Guilherme Cruz
Former Pride and UFC champion, Mauricio Shogun will return to Ultimate’s cage on August 27th (UFC Rio), against Forrest Griffin, but he’s tuned to what’s going on on his weight class. On a chat with TATAME, the fighter complimented his former opponent Lyoto Machida for the knockout over Randy Couture, in UFC 129.
“I thought he was going to defeat Randy Couture. It really was a beautiful kick, but I knew he’d win”, said Shogun, who’s considering a possible confrontation with the karate fighter in the future, but guaranteed he won’t start any kind of rivalry. “Lyoto absolutely is a guy I might have to fight again someday, and I believe I will. I don’t know when, but it’ll happen. Of course I’ll want to beat him, but we’re professionals. He’s great character, he has a good heart, so he’s a guy I admire a lot”.
Always was a machida fan, even though at one point the fanbois had me rolling my eyes lol no offense guys. Even before the Couture fight, I felt Machida had the best chance of being Jon jones. I still see him as top 5. Here's my top five in no order:

If Machida were to win the next fight, most people would want it to continue to best of 5 if you know what I mean.
I have a feeling every single Brazilian fighter at 134 is going to go for a front kick KO once in their fights, the good strikers anyway. This would be hilarious, brutal, and quite eery if more than one of them pulls it off.
But according to Seagal, it's his modifications that make it so effective, and other fighters will find it very difficult. I can see Falcao and Rua trying it.

I think Seagal is helping them with there upkick but only slightly.... Saying other fighters cant pull it off because they didn't learn his "version" is a bunch of bullshit
