Stephan Bonnar has traveled a rocky road through the UFC since emerging from the cast of the inaugural season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but he will look to add to a recent two-fight streak when he faces Karlos Vemola at UFC on Versus 5 in August.

Bonnar tweeted the fight on his TrashTalkinKids twitter account, while ESPN’s Jon Anik tweeted the event.

Bonnar (13-7) was teetering on the brink following a three-fight skid in 2009-2010, but finally bounced back with a win over Krzysztof Soszynski in July of last year. He added Igor Pokrajac to the hit list in December. It’s been a long layoff, but he’ll look to build on his recent successes against the Czech fighter.

Vemola (8-1) is making the second start of his light heavyweight career against Bonnar. He amassed a 7-1 record as a heavyweight, but dropped down to 205 pounds after suffering a loss to Jon Madsen at UFC 116. The bout with Bonnar will Vemola’s first bout since November 2010.

UFC on Versus 5 has not been officially announced yet, but is expected to take place at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisc. Other rumored bouts include Amir Sadollah vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Cole Miller vs. T.J. O’Brien.
Holy shit this is gonna be a sick fight!

oh man.... We've been waiting quite awhile to see this young man fight again.... and what a match-up we have now.

I hope Bonnar finds a way to win and look good, but this guy doesn't seem terribly easy to handle.

Will Bonnar be able to contain Vemola for the first few minutes of the fight?
Will Bonnar's toughness cause Vemola to tire and fold?
Will Vemola crush everyone based on that one awesome performance I saw that one time?

Lots of answers to be found out, glad we have a date!

Vemola is ONE WILD MAN! He seems to have pretty solid cardio which makes his style of fight all the more entertaining. POUND AWAY!!!

interesting fight, my opinion is Bonnar needs to avoid going to the ground wiht Vemola as his Ground and pound is scary, but if they stay standing I think Bonnar may be able to beat Vemola using his striking
Big f'in IF, friend. Bonnar doesn't have the best TDD, and Vemola is young, hungry, POWERFUL and will generally jsut be too overwhelming for Bonnar. Bonnar will fight very hard for 3 rounds and he has heart, so can see a comfortable uanimous decision victory for Karlos. Maybe even a stoppage at some point.

Vemola is a psyhcopath, but he's going against the *American Psycho*...he he he...

Bonnar is one of the toughest SOBs in the game. He hasn't been stopped by anyone in his entire career - except for some cuts.

He has quite an advantage over Vemola as far as experience, striking and grappling is concerned. And his cardio/conditioning is great also.

On the other hand, Vemola will hold a big advantage in terms of strength/power against Bonnar. He is like a mini Hulk.
Seeing how Bonnar was taken down and decisioned by Coleman (i still can't think of how that happened...:confused02:), i think that's what Vemola will be looking for in this fight also: taking Bonnar down and trying to GnP him to a stoppage. (cuts)

His win over Petruzelli though, doesn't say much about him. And we don't know much about his cardio.

This is gonna be a very interesting...and hopefully, exciting fight.

Huge fight for both guys, so many things could go in either fighters direction. I like Bonnar's chances against Vemola, I don't trust Vemola's cardio and Bonnar is physically on par with HW's. This is one of those fights where we will be able to tell on the weigh ins whose going to win.

I remember Bonnar was full of potential, then kind of went on the decline, but I think he bounced back and has looked really great against him latest opponents.

I was thinking I wanted to see him against stiffer competition than his previous opponents.

Wish, wait for it....granted!
