But I think comparing him to Tim Sylvia is a bit crazy:

1. Georgy shows up in fantastic shape every fight

2. GSP's competition is much more legit

The thing with GSP and why he's so popular (imo) is because of his personality outside of the ring.

He's got charisma (not saying he's my favorite) and a lot of casual fans love him, even though they couldn't tell you why.

He will never go down as the GOAT for some of the reasons you stated though.

Thanks for the LOL!
gsp has charisma?

Yeah, and the last time he did that in the UFC was against Arlovski, and let's face it, who hasn't knocked out Arlovski? Hell, he couldn't even take out Andrei in the rubber match.

... I think people are taking this comparison a bit too far.

Staying on the outside and jabbing + boring = where the comparison ends.

I don't find GSP boring at all. I don't find him exciting either though. He plays safe and keeps winning, I can't fault that.

Tim Silva is a difficult human being to look at for more than 10 seconds. It's that trailing leg zombie foot thing hes got going on. Eww.

I think you mean devolve...

Anyways, Tim defended his title what? Twice? Against Arlovski and Monson, both of which are no longer in the UFC and that includes Sylvia.

Back when the UFC heavyweight division was laughable. GSP is the reigning and 6 time defending welterweight champion. All of his challengers are still in the UFC and considered among the best of the best in the world in their weight classes.

Tim was UFC champ when Pride had the steeper and more talented heavyweight division.

You simply cannot compare the two, to do so is plain ignorance.
