Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the difference between these two confrontations
He defended himself alright. He was moving his head side to side so as to not get hit in the exact same spot with his arms up the exact same way Shamrocks were. And yeah, the difference was Herb Dean, you rocket scientist...LOL

I don't know herb dean did what he's supposed to do. He saw ken eat 5 elbows without trying to defend one. There is no way he knew Ken wasn't hurt. Ken can take a beating but you still have to protect the fighter's. If he didn't stop it and ken got really hurt everyone would've freaked.

Shamrock wasn't defending himself whatsoever (arms by your side is not a defense ). So what's your point. Letting the fight go on a few elbows longer was not going to change the outcome for Shamrock. I actually respect Shamrock's past accomplishments but you Sham fans need to wake up to reality and realize he is finished as a fighter

yea and then people would have blamed him for NOT stopping the fight.. better to stop early and have people pissed at you that way so the fighter can fight another day.. then have them end up like ALI

The MMA Gods Must be crazy

This is useless. The last thing I will say on this is that Couture and Liddell, both of whom were present at said event, objected to the call by Herb "The Jellyfish" Dean.

I don't know about you, but I consider both of them to be a couple of the two most qualified people on the face of the earth to comment on this subject.

Exactly. Everyone picks on the ref. he stopped it at the right time. Big John would've done the same. I'd like all the people that think it was to soon eat 5 unblocked elbows to the face.

C'mon has anyone everseen Shamrock defend himself . He's slow and to much of a brawler, he is more worried about kickin' a guys arse than defending himself. I really don't like the guy but he was cut way short.

It had to be done wether anyone agrees or not. The rules clearly state defend yourself at all times. Until they change the rules to take 5 elbows to the face it will be a correct stopage.

They also probably didn't want another blood bath like yves. I bet herb might have let it go a little longer if Yves hadn't bleed like a stuck pig not more then a hour ago.
