I just didn't think I would need to qualify the JBJ "win". Hammil was done long before the elbows.

Why do people seem to want to punish Hamill for the fact Jones broke the rules? Seriously people treat it like Matt Cheated or something when Bones is the one in the wrong. Matt deserved to win the fight because Jon neglected the rules. I just don't get it.

Matt lost the fight long before the elbows appeared. What is so hard to understand about that - sure, JBJ shouldn't have elbowed him. TBH, it was news to me at that point that it was now illegal to go 12 to 6 (just never really noticed before). JBJ looked surprised, too. I really doubt Jones thought: ok, I have dominated this fight from post to post, time to cheat and seal the deal. No one is punishing Matt, but hey, lets have the fight again and watch him have the sh!t beat out of him again just to prove the point. If Matt thinks he won that fight, good luck to him.

Matt wasn't done, was he on his way out? Yes but the ref hadn't ended the fight so no he was not done. I am gonna compare it to say a Nascar race and lets say hypothetically when the guy in first enters the last lap the guy in second is 10 laps behind. You can say the guy in first has won the race but until he finishes that lap its not over. Jones didn't finish the race. You can say Jones didn't intend to cheat but it boils down to he is a professional fighter who either forgot the rules or didn't know them and its his job. It is his job to know the rules and its his job to abide by them. Ignorance is not an excuse. You say nobody is blaming Matt look at the tone of your post its EXACTLY what you doing. You saying he was done and acting like Jones should have been given the win despite cheating because he was going to win anyways. Its crap that everyone only talks about Matt being destroyed and acts like Jones deserved a win. He didn't he CHEATED. Bones deserved to lose that fight. I'm not saying Matt deserved to win the fight but Jones sure as hell deserved to lose it.

Well, lets have the fight again, and you can see how it would have ended without elbows. And, unlike your nascar analogy, Matt was not coming back any more than a car that had lost all four of its wheels. Matt is not in the same class.

Didn't the fight end in a loss because the ref thought Matt couldn't continue due to the illegal strikes, when in reality it was a broken (or severally injured shoulder/arm) arm that was caused earlier in the fight? Not starting a flame war or anything just it has been awhile since I saw the fight, but if the communication was properly there, then it would have been a No Contest or something right?

Ya but dude does it really matter what happened before the illegal strikes? If Bones had started stomping on Hammil's face instead of 12-6 elbows would you still feel the way you do?

In the context of a fight, yes it does matter. That fight cannot be used to elevated his status as a fighter. He did not win that fight, it was a DQ of his opponent. To use that fight as a basis to move Matt up the ladder is inane. I really don't think most people need proof of the inevitable outcome, but, for those who do, if someone can make a rematch happen, bring it on. I doubt even Matt would want it.

C'mon guys. I dont think that Matt has very much of a chance against Jon Jones. But if he beats Rampage, thatll put him on a six fight winning streak. A six fight winning streak with 2 former champions, Keith Jardine and Mark Munoz all under his belt. Thats nothing to scoff at and a very promotable matchup to the "mainstream" fans. We all know that Matt would be the underdog, but underdogs sometimes to dowin and they do sell fights. I wouldnt put money on his victory, but if Matt wins, I wouldn't say he was gifted a title shot either because on paper he's beaten some decent names to get himself where he is.

He has no where near the pedigree of Lyoto. Who is the other former champion? All I see is crusty old Tito.
