UFC waiting on the winner of Rampage/Hamill?

The Jon Jones putting off surgery news came to light just yesterday so it's still early, but his manager has pretty much confirmed that Rashad Evans won't be his next fight.

Now that doesn't make much sense to me, but does anyone else feel the UFC is waiting for the outcome of Rampage/Hamill to give Jones his next challenge?

I feel if Rampage wins, especially with a vicious KO, they'll give him the shot, but if Hamill wins or Rampage looks very bad in winning they'll give Rashad the shot, and possibly book Machida/Hamill or Machida/Rampage 2. In turn pulling Rashad out of the Davis fight,

I don't think they're looking at giving Machida a title shot, not yet anyway I'm thinking if Rampage KO's Hamill they'll for some strange reason, give him Vera just for the sake of giving him a fight and a winnable fight to help him get back "in the mix". Phil Davis would be another option, unless he wants to take that time off like he talked about earlier.

Yea I think so. If Rampage wins he will probably get the next shot. Lyoto is in a tough spot, as most top LHW are tied up in fights already. Phil Davis v Rashad winner gets Machida for the next shot? I think I heard Jones can't start training again til mid June. We might have another logjam on our hands here.

Hard to gauge where Rampage is at right now. He said he will stay in fighting as long as it pays better than movies. Not a sign of a very committed person. If Hammil beats him, I don't think Hammil deserves a title shot. It would be the only notable name on Hammil's record. I'd still favor Lyoto before Hammil. The thought of Hammil getting a title shot makes me cringe.

Don't write off Hammill. Rampage is a winnable fight for him and Matt is really a wild card in this whole equation.

Well, if you say it like that it would be the 2nd notable name on his list, the first being Jon Jones himself.

too bad anyone who follows MMA knows Hamil lost. He only has a win because the ref couldn't communicate with him.

??? He has the win because Jones clearly broke the rules. Communicating with Matt has nothing to do with it. It may be a rule that is widely considered ludicrous but its a rule and Jones broke it. He was seconds away from finishing Matt with illegal strikes. It would have been the same as if he had stood up and started stomping him as far as the rules are concerned.

Jones destroyed Hamill once and he would do it again its as simple as that, if he was to beat Rampage and get the title shot everyone know exactly what the result would be but I feel its a fight that needs to happen if the situation does coem about, it needs to happen so that the red mark on Jones professional record can be redeemed and so that future MMA fans can just look back and see that the guy he lost to got demolished once again in a rematch.

Thats all assuming Hamill evens dares to get back in the cage with him.

Isn't Jones a notable win on his record? No need to say that Jon completely dominated him, i've seen the fight.
