Sanchez Vs. Edgar?
I was thinking about it today, and I don't think I've seen this brought up.
Diego Sanchez was destroyed by BJ, we all know that obviously. To me though, it was BJs take down defense and striking power that did it. The beating was so bad, it sent Diego back to the WW division, ironically enough only to have BJ follow him there after the losses to Edgar.
Edgar was just too fast for BJ. But I honestly believe that Diego is faster than BJ, not as fast as Edgar, but possibly fast enough to shut him down in a lot of areas. And while charging in against BJ damn near got him KO'd on numerous occasions, all the way up to the point that BJ nearly cut his forehead in half... I just can't see Frankie hurting him like that.
Anyway, just curious how you guys, and gals, think this fight would play out... and who would take it.
I would like to see Diego go back to LW, especially if BJ stays where he is now... or retires of course.

Edgar by decision.
He'd frustrate Diego with his movement, and is a much better boxer, and probably is the better wrestler and unquestionably has the better ju-jitsu.
I still wonder how Diego made 155 he looked big as hell in the Kampmann fight, maybe it was the bald head but he looked gigantic compared to how he looked at 155.

Diego's hand speed is no where near as fast as BJ's.
Diego would be so confused by Frankie's boxing and movement he wouldn't know what to do.
@Lyoto, did you get the wrestling and the BJJ mixed up? Frankie Edgar has the better wrestling by far but the BJJ advantage definitely goes to Diego.

Oh without question BJ has better hand speed than Diego... but I think Diego has the faster more aggressive shots. I think he could actually get Frankie down, possibly even keep him there, which is something BJ couldn't do.
For the record, I votes Edgar, and I agree with you, but I do think I could see Diego getting the better of Edgar before I could BJ.

I have to disagree man, I think at this point Edgar's wrestling is really under rated. In his last fight he out wrestled the best wrestler in the entire division.
I don't think Diego could get him down and I certainly don't think he would keep him down if he did. Sanchez couldn't keep Kampmann on the ground for more than 10 seconds.

Frankie is much better standing than Diego and that would be rendered irrelevant anyway cos Frankie would just dominate him with wrestling, take him down and pound on him till he gets the UD

I don't see any reason to believe that Diego's overrated ass would have a good chance against Edgar. Edgar frustrates his opponents with his striking and takedown defense. Diego's striking is mediocre at best and his wrestling has looked even more suspect recently.

Diego has been dominated in 3 of his last 4 fights and Edgar would completely tool him.
