Jared Hamman was winning Fight of the Night bonuses at light heavyweight, but he wasn't always winning the fight itself. A 1-2 record in his first three fights at 205 led to a change in divisions for Hamman, who will be moving down to middleweight for the first time in his career at UFC on Versus 5 on August 11th in Milwaukee. And his opponent will be TUF veteran and UFC mainstay C.B. Dollaway. From UFC.com:

After back-to-back Fight of the Night awards, Jared Hamman will test the waters at 185 pounds this August 14th against former Ultimate Fighter finalist CB Dollaway.

"Two time Fight of the Night winner Jared ‘The Messenger’ Hamman has verbally agreed to face two time Submission of the Night winner CB ‘The Doberman’ Dollaway in his middleweight debut August 14 in Milwaukee," said UFC President Dana White.

Hamman, who trains with Vladimir Matyushenko at his VMAT gym, has never been submitted in his career while his opponent has picked up two Submission of the Night bonuses in his UFC career.

Jared "The Messenger" Hamman (11-3)
Loss Kyle Kingsbury - Decision (Unanimous) UFC Fight Night 22
Win Rodney Wallace - Decision (Unanimous) UFC 111
Loss Alexander Gustafsson - KO (Punches) UFC 105

CB via murder. No offence to Hamman, but he has nothing and I mean NOTHING to offer CB in this fight. Plus he will be cutting to middleweight for the first time so is likely to be more fatigued than he'd want, which is just suicide against somebody with CB's skillset. The Doberman will tear chunks out of this lad's neck this august, watch. Come on, CB. End this one quickly and lets erase memories of that so called 'ko' Munoz gave you.

Hope Mario doesn't ref this one too.

This should be a good rebound fight for Dollaway. It's a shame that his last fight ended the way it did. I think that he has much more tools than displayed in that fight. I'd like to see a rematch between him and Munoz down the line.

For now, I actually see him playing this fight safe. He should know that this is a good match up for him. He can't afford another Mark Munoz/Tom Lawlor type of loss. Those are still guys that I think he can beat. Of course that is just my opinion.

If he fights smart, I don't see him having too much trouble in this bout. Dollaway is a legit middleweight.

Absolutely mate. Couldn't agree more. CB should play it safe for a couple of fights, but at the same time, I want to see him go all out when it's clear his opponent is just not on his level. He is definitely a contender and I agree with you that the losses he has were against fighters he should be able to beat most of the time. That's the weird thing about Dollaway, he looks awesome against tough talented ****ers like Goran Reljic and Mike Mesenzio, but gets flash losses to guys like Lawlor and Sadollah. He just needs to concentrate on his defence more. His sub defence is on another level than it was a couple of years back, but his striking defence still needs some work.

I think that he is just overly aggressive sometimes. He has over committed when fighting which leads to fight losing risks. It's good for the fans that he is always looking to finish and be aggressive, but at this level, it's unrealistic to think you can always get away with that. You're right implying that he should wait until he knows his opponent isn't on his level, and that is when he should unload.

Before that stoppage loss against Munoz, he actually looked to be superior on the ground. Munoz was having trouble keeping up with him. Letting him back up ended up being a mistake as shown. Maybe he wanted to stand and trade more, or maybe he didn't like the position he had, but he should have kept it on the ground in my opinion.

It's not always a bad thing to grind, it's just when a guy becomes repetitive with that game plan, it gets old. Dollaway could overwhelm a lot of guys in the grappling department at 185 if he had more patience. I like how he is always on the offense, it's refreshing to see a wrestler with that style, but if he did it in moderation and waited until after securing position and wearing down his opponent, those flash losses would probably be a lot less common. I can see him realizing that as he gets more and more experience.
