I SERIOUSLY doubt that. Carwin is a purplebelt & what is/was brock? whitebelt I assume, no more than blue atleast. Carwin gassed so bad he could hardly stand, thats why he got submitted...has nothing to do with BJJ in this case.

belts really dont mean jack, i never compared his BJJ to lesnar, but in general his BJJ needs work if youre a 'purple belt' getting submitted by a 'white belt'. I dont study any jiu jitsu but a brazilian i work with has told me many stories of guys with 'black belts' that could be submitted by 'blue belts'(such as himself). I guess it depends on your master and how easily he hands over a black belt.

Off topic: the brazilian dude i work with was telling me stories of how people over there will intentionally rub their gi on their ears for hours every day (outside of training) so they get cauliflower ear and recognition of being a fighter.. thought it was funny.

lol yeah I'm sure thats is true, I've heard of similar stories, I still doubt thats the problem with Carwin tho...he just has Horrible Cardio and to be fair he did beat on Brock like crazy. I bet alot of good BJJ guys would get submitted by a whitebelt if they are gassed 100% so they can't move...it's like submitting them in their sleep almost. I mean it's not like it was some advanced move that caught him by surprize, it was very basic and you could see Carwin just didn't have the strength/will/cardio to defend, I'm quite positive he knew how to.

Yeah it was a great oppurtunity, hes a very nice bloke and is very honest and humble about his achievements.

He is an incredibly intense individual though, you can tell that even when he is just standing around chatting.

Note how his bjj instructor says nothing for him being any good at BJJ, just says 'he has great willpower'. I remember pre brock fight he was telling us his groundgame is actually his strong point lol.

For the record, the arm triangle choke is really more of a strength based catch-wrestling move.

What happened there was a lot like what almost happened in Chael vs. Silva. Chael threw that arm triangle choke on Silva to give him a way out from all the punishment he had taken. Lesnar did the same thing to Carwin, Carwin was gassed so bad that submission was just an excuse to get out of the fight.

He defended half right. He was trying to creat space by moving his arm, he just got caught in it so fast that it really didn't matter. Had it not been for lack of cardio he would've won that fight, Lesnar would've never gotten him to the floor before he got KTFO.

Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of lame how they claim him to be a former HW Champ at the beginning?

I know he carried an interim belt that he got by beating Frank Mir. I'm actually a big Mir fan but I mean c'mon... that was a glorified number one contenders match that they made look pretty with a fake belt, he was never the champ.

Carwin must have got off the roids after gassing so bad last fight. There is no way a healthy, un-injured professional athlete can gas after 5 minutes otherwise.

All the way JDS in this one! Avoid Carwins bombs and this fight is going to be a stand-up clinic but a much superior technical striker in Junior.
