That said, GSP would simply outwrestle Nick. I think GSP avoided Shields ground like the plague because Shields is a submission wrestler, same with Kos. GSP doesn't seem to fear or have trouble with strict BJJ'ists on the ground and both the Diaz brothers kryptonite are strong wrestlers.

GSP wins this theoretical fight via ground out decision/wrestling smuthering, but if he kept it standing, the fight favors Diaz, imho.
Yep...
Who would you take in a striking match. Thiago Alves or Nick Diaz?? IMO its not even close. Alves would destroy Nick on the feet. Yet we saw GSP to be the one that dropped Alves.
GSP has a tendency to rise to the occasion. Nothing Diaz does is great (Apart from his JJ). And to beat GSP you are going to have to be great.

You know what??

Lets give Nick a fight against Alves or Fitch. Then we will see where he stands and if he deserves to be mentioned in the same league as GSP.

For sure, in a K1 style match Alves beats Diaz and GSP. On paper, Alves is superior to them both strictly striking speaking, but half of Alves killer arsenal are his kicks and once GSP put the fear of the TD in him, Alves beat himself. He was afraid to throw the more effective half of his striking arsenal; his legs. Nick doesn't really kick or at least his kicks are not as significant to his general strike game as Alves is, so Nick can remain in the brothers Diaz hunched over, TDD ready strike stance.

GSP didn't have to put up with Alves' full striking arsenal due to implemeting the fear of the TD in Alves' head, imo. With Nick, GSP would have to deal with a closer to full potential of Nick's striking arsenal, as oppose to 40-60% of Alves' when they fought.

However, all that being said, even if you concede to the idea that Nick is more effective on the feet, GSP takes him down at will and it becomes a wrestling match, something that flusters both Diaz brothers.

Gsp has cleared out his division, so no one was in his league. Diaz is the last with a decent win streak going, half decent being an arguably 14 fight win streak barring a cut loss. You can say they were cans, but 14 fights in pro mma is no joke. I see the Alves/Diaz fight going alot like Cyborg. Pressure from Alves with some big shots, and Diaz overwhelms him with nonstop punches to the face and Alves topples. Gsp won't allow himself to stand and bang, he'll double leg and do his thing, big surprise.

Damn, I wanted to see this fight just to see GSP dominate Diaz.
