Mike Swick finally returns at UFC 134

Against Erick Silva!

Mike Swick has been out of action for quite some time, but he finally appears ready to step foot back in the Octagon.

He is expected to return against newcomer Erick Silva at UFC 134 on Aug. 27 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. MMAWeekly.com sources on Wednesday confirmed the fight first reported by Sherdog.com.

Swick (14-4) has been sidelined for the last year-and-a-half, dealing with an esophageal condition. He suffered back-to-back losses before his current sabbatical, dropping fights to Paulo Thiago and Dan Hardy.

Silva (11-1) is currently one of the hottest welterweight prospects in Brazil. UFC 134 serves as his launching platform in the Octagon.

A member of the X-Gym, Silva counts Anderson Silva, Rafael Feijao, and Jacare Souza as training partners to counter Swick’s American Kickboxing Academy team that includes training partners like Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, and Cain Velasquez.

Anderson Silva heads the UFC 134 fight card, defending his middleweight championship against top contender Yushin Okami.

Dunno anything about Silva, but an unknown Brazilian fighter training with Anderson and Feijao is a scary thing!!

War Swick..

Silva has a good record in 11-1 but he's fought a list of no names.

Good stuff, great to see Swick returning to action!

Damn, it's been 15 months since his last fight, and he hasn't won since June 13 2009, that's pretty much 2 whole years.

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig

In reality Swick almost lost to Hardy when Hardy looked his best and Swick looked his worst. Then he lost to Paulo Thiago who is a monster anyway.

Not saying I'm a Swick fan just that he's not bad and he's probably fringe top 10 if he's in shape. The guy is also huge.

Good to see Swick back but he probably will lose.

Erick Silva is a big WW and a pretty damn good fighter.

Bad matchup for Swick. Silva is a very well rounded fighter and I think he outstrikes Swick on the feet. He's also got a dangerous choke game on the mat and good sweeps and takedown defense.

He's a slow starter and very patient, so I think Swick's best bet is to blitz him early like he's famous for.
