The, "I love you Big Country, but comon thread"

I love Big Country the same as any other UFC fighter. The guy is legit. His heart is second to NONE, his knockout power is there, but....there's that belly.
I don't mean belly as in body fat, I myself am a 5'11" person pushing 194 lbs on the scale. But as much as a I appreciate him for his big belly and legitimacy,f this counts 2 in a row for him in the UFC against "top" heavyweights. The first time he blew his knee, I'll give him that because he stayed in there against the supposed knock-out master JDS. But...this performance against dude, can we get serious? I love big country but...lets be real here, we need to get serious now Mr. Nelson.

This is one of his worst performances I have seen from big country, I believe he started gassing at the end of round one. The thing is, I really don't know how you can be that fat and still work on cardio, so he must not work on his cardio that much.

The most frustrating thing as a MMA fan, is seeing fighters gas so early.

As long as Big Country doesnt get taken down, his cardio will be ok for 3 rounds.

But, if he gets taken down & has to stand back up, hes definitely going to gas.

Mir had a smart gameplan and those takedowns which wouldnt necessarily have a huge effect on someone definitely affected Big Country.

I shouldnt say, definitely. I should say tremendous. Tremendous.

Hard work is the only real PED.

Yeah, surviving three rounds of punching vs three rounds of grappeling are night and day. Grappeling takes every bit of gas out of you, I can only imagine that having somebod weighing 260 lbs on top of you. Good job for staying "in" the fight for Big Country, but he couldn't really stay in the fight...kinda like Hamill, stayed alive, but didn't really bring main event!? haha

If you really loved Big Country you would have told him this after the clobbering he took in the JDS fight. They were similar beatings really, but I see what you are saying I guesssssssssssssssssssssss...................

%tage of body fat is directly linked to the amount of fat you have surrounding your heart

yeah...I love Big Country....but if he ever wants to get close to the title, he needs to lose that grease bucket.

I dont ever see Roy Nelson in a 5 round fight

Lol the title of this thread perfectly captures my feelings.

As for him losing the belly: I think the belly is a big part of his persona, and he would lose some notoriety. Although it is definitely the right move to help his fighting career.

The fact of the matter is that he is already 34, and won't compete for the HW or LHW title. Ever. He'll probably have more fans being the fat guy that knocks out mid tier HWs than an in-shape LHW losing to elite LHWs.

yeah he's never going to lose the belly. like someone said, it's apart of his persona, and he's too late in his career to change his lifestyle just because of MMA. However, he should change for his own well being.
