Having only seen one Cruz fight (Benavidez) and seeing several of Fabers fights I'd say I think Faber has a good chance if he can grab a hold of him. But again I haven't seen much of Cruz to make an honest assessment. The fights that I have seen from Faber though has proven that he is definitely in the top tier of that division.

Im going to go with Faber on the basis the division is thin and Cruz hasnt beaten that many good fighters.

What?

Benevidez twice
Brian Bowles
Scott Jorgensen

And Faber has beaten who? An over the hill Jens Pulver twice and an over hyped Mizugaki?

This is a going to be a GREAT fight imo and the odds should definitely be close to even, but at the end of the day with fighting you have to look at "what have you done for me lately" and I think Cruz has just been more impressive. Psychologically Faber is coming off of two losses to Mike Brown and a serious beatdown by Aldo whereas Cruz is a champion with a lot of experience in this weight class.

He also trains at Alliance with the likes of Phil Davis, Brandon Vera, Travis Browne, Alexander Gustaffson (a few months at a time), Joey Beltran, and more...

Who does Faber train with? Chad Mendes and Joseph Benevidez? So what does that mean that Faber has good wrestling training partners...? Well IMO Phil Davis > them.

Cruz.

Faber had a pretty tough fight with Wineland.

Cruz is one/if not the most underrated UFC champion. Could be a result of people not knowing too much about him.

Faber is much popular outside og the cage, but when the doors to the cage close, it's fighter vs fighter.

Dominant UD for Cruz.

I think Cruz takes it as well this time.. but I do believe that Faber is superior on the ground..

..and if he can get him down, he can also choke him out again!

Very close fight.

If Cruz wins obviously only by decision.

Faber is quick and has solid wrestling. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's better then Jorgensens wrestling. Jorgensen didnt even leave a mark on Cruz in a 5 round fight. I honesty say this with no biasness again but Cruz in my opinion is a better striker then Aldo. I mean Jose has better leg kicks but that's about it, Cruz changes levels like Silva and his log reach let's him hit the body with ease. I honestly can't remember being as satisfied with a performance in my life after I watched his last fight.

If Cruz wins he will finally get the respect he deserves and I hope everyone around here remembers that I called for this to happen a long long time ago.
I actually agree with you completely. People forget that Jorgensen is a monster because of what Cruz did to him.

As far as striking, I say Cruz is easily on level with Aldo, he just has a different style. Cruz is all over the place, he's very unorthodox and he throws a very, very high volume of strikes. Aldo is a power puncher who waits to counter (and is very good at it). Both of them change levels and mix punches, kicks, knees and elbows fantastically well. Cruz has the speed and footwork advantages (Aldo has a tendency to be flat footed and stalk people) but Aldo definitely has the power advantage. Cruz/Aldo is a serious super fight IMO.

As far as this fight with Uriah goes? Uriah was figured out a long time ago and really hasn't changed at all. He's still tough as nails and I don't see Cruz stopping him, but I do see Cruz easily out pointing him en route to a UD.

Cruz via breakdance punches and knee taps for 5 rounds. The guy who beats Cruz is going to have to have very good MT kicks and defensive wrestling in my opinion.

I think Cruz will win by split-decision but I'm rooting for Faber. What I like most about there matchup though is I'll be watching it live in Vegas, cant wait..
