Santiago underestimated Stann

Jorge Santiago reflects on his loss to Brian Stann at UFC 130, and tells Tatame he may have overlooked the American:

"I guess what went wrong is that I was too confident. I didnít feel the pressure by the fans, of having everybody staring at me. I was to at ease, I thought itíd be easy and I lost focus. I didnít do what I couldíve done. The guys that train with me and are part of my team, like Gesias (Cavalcante), said I didnít do half what I could. It was his big day. Next time I wonít let it happen", said the Brazilian, adding the fact he knew what he had to do so donít lose it.

"They (UFC promoters) havenít say anything (about the next bout), but they liked the bout, and you can tell it because they considered it the best of the evening. There were many good things about it, it was a busy bout, which is something that the fans enjoy".

"Heís a pro, a good man, whoís been improving a lot and so, heís taking larger steps now. I guess that for what he knows about me, heís aware I wasnít at my best. He said back there (on UFCís backstage). He hoped more from me."

its a shame, i wanted him to win but i knew stann would pick up the victory, i thought he would have done a lot better, if he respected stann more he wouldnt have gone all out, this isnt japan santiago, you need gameplans in the UFC

hopefully he starts taking guys more seriously now and actually develops a gameplan for his next fight, i still think he has great potential

Stann looked great on fight night, moved faster, hit harder and had a better plan. Santiago was a fool to underestimate him and paid for it.
