This is a real wild card IMO. Once you get that light even small weight cuts are torture. He wasn't a big lightweight so I'll assume he doesn't get so drawn out that he can't perform. Still though he hasn't fought in 10 months, got injured, and is making a drastic weight cut. All 3 things can be detrimental on their own.

I think Florian will take a close decision win. But i think he doesnt look at good as he did a couple of years ago, but maybe he'll look better at FW.

Kenny is going to be a skeleton with no strength or power this is a stupid idea even if he can manage to beat a couple of the better guys at FW the top guys will slaughter him. Cruz, Faber, and Torres could all move up to 145 and beat Kenny. He needs to stop dropping weight classes already the problems have always been a matter of lack of strength against wrestlers and choking. He needs to put on a lot of muscle and move up to 170.

I'm betting heavily on Nunes he is legit and won't have a problem hurting a guy standing or taking down a guy with no muscle mass.

I'm going go Nunes by UD. Have not seen a whole lot of him, but what i have seems enough to beat a skinny Florian.

This is what everyone's affraid of tbh.
Kenny Florian looked too damn skinny at the 155 weigh ins. That means he should look even more skinnier at 145, because he wasn't a big guy in the first place, with a lot of muscle mass or fat to lose, in order to drop weight - like Marquardt, Marcus Davis, Boetsch, Stann or others.

If we're going to judge the situation based only on how Kenny looked at the wigh ins, the scenario you've just described is more than a possibility.

But, if we take a look at what Florian and his camp are saying, the situation looks a bit different.

Quote:
"He's the guy in charge of making sure I'm in top physical form for my fights," Florian said. "He's also the guy responsible for making sure I'm making improvements. That I'm getting stronger, that I'm getting faster, that I'm getting more flexible. And that my work load capacity is better for every single camp. That's one thing Jonathan Chaimberg has been great -making me stronger in places where I wasn't strong before. I've become a much, much better athlete since hooking up with him."

"Everybody is different. I'm not a classical coach who has everyone do the same things," Chaimberg (strength and conditioning coach from Adrenaline Performance Center in Montreal) said. "Kenny's main focus now is strength. Up until this camp he wasn't someone who would wow you in the gym. He wasn't that physically strong - great technique and great skills, but not very powerful. Against some guys, he could get away with it. Against Gray Maynard, who is a great wrestler and also very strong, it's a tough match-up. So we focused on getting Kenny supremely strong and powerful for this fight. Putting on a lot of good muscle. His body is completely different. He's put on a lot of solid muscle. His strength is at a place where I would be impressed even if he was fighting at 155. At 145 it's unreal."

Coming from his camp, people might think this is a totally biased opinion.
The only way to see how he performs is to wait for the actual fight to happen.

All i know is: based on skill alone, Florian is the favourite here. Te should take this.

That leaves only the problem of this new weight cut, wich seems to be a bigger X factor than most peoaple anticipated.

Nunes has shown a lot of promise. When I watch him fight though I am just not that impressed. It seems like he's squeeked a couple of decisions by. Florian has been very impressive before. It looks to me like Kenny is better in every area. I just hope that weight cut doesn't kill him. I'm picking Kenny by 1st round sub after rocking Nunes standing.

Kenny and his camp claimed he had better BJJ than Penn before their fight they suffer from delusions of grandeur you can't take anything they say at face value.

LOL

That true, even though his camp and some of his fans were the only ones believing that story.

This time though, we're talking about another thing.

AOmething that's pretty much an X factor: it's all suppositions.

Even though Florian looked like a "mini-Skelletor" at the 155 weigh-ins, he never had any real problems with being drained, gassing or stuff like that, if i remember correctly.
He didn't look 100% right at the weigh ins - too skinny for most people's taste - but he performed OK.

This time though, it's something new.
And, i've read, this is gonna be his first attempt at cutting down to 145. He had no practice cutts before.
So...it's gonna be something new for him.

I hope it doesn't affect him too much, because i think his fight against Nunes can be a very exciting fight.

Skill-wise i see Florian having the edge, but the weight issue hangs in the balance a lot for now.

Gonna make my mind up after watching the weigh-ins.

I'm guessing that whoever wins this fight gets the next shot at Aldo, right? Nunes trains with Aldo, and they seem pretty close - is he gonna go elsewhere to train and sever ties with Blackhouse/Nova Unaio?
