Kenny is going to be a skeleton with no strength or power this is a stupid idea even if he can manage to beat a couple of the better guys at FW the top guys will slaughter him. Cruz, Faber, and Torres could all move up to 145 and beat Kenny. He needs to stop dropping weight classes already the problems have always been a matter of lack of strength against wrestlers and choking. He needs to put on a lot of muscle and move up to 170.
I'm betting heavily on Nunes he is legit and won't have a problem hurting a guy standing or taking down a guy with no muscle mass.
This is what everyone's affraid of tbh.
Kenny Florian looked too damn skinny at the 155 weigh ins. That means he should look even more skinnier at 145, because he wasn't a big guy in the first place, with a lot of muscle mass or fat to lose, in order to drop weight - like Marquardt, Marcus Davis, Boetsch, Stann or others.
If we're going to judge the situation based only on how Kenny looked at the wigh ins, the scenario you've just described is more than a possibility.
But, if we take a look at what Florian and his camp are saying, the situation looks a bit different.
"He's the guy in charge of making sure I'm in top physical form for my fights," Florian said. "He's also the guy responsible for making sure I'm making improvements. That I'm getting stronger, that I'm getting faster, that I'm getting more flexible. And that my work load capacity is better for every single camp. That's one thing Jonathan Chaimberg has been great -making me stronger in places where I wasn't strong before. I've become a much, much better athlete since hooking up with him."
"Everybody is different. I'm not a classical coach who has everyone do the same things," Chaimberg (strength and conditioning coach from Adrenaline Performance Center in Montreal) said. "Kenny's main focus now is strength. Up until this camp he wasn't someone who would wow you in the gym. He wasn't that physically strong - great technique and great skills, but not very powerful. Against some guys, he could get away with it. Against Gray Maynard, who is a great wrestler and also very strong, it's a tough match-up. So we focused on getting Kenny supremely strong and powerful for this fight. Putting on a lot of good muscle. His body is completely different. He's put on a lot of solid muscle. His strength is at a place where I would be impressed even if he was fighting at 155. At 145 it's unreal."
Coming from his camp, people might think this is a totally biased opinion.
The only way to see how he performs is to wait for the actual fight to happen.
All i know is: based on skill alone, Florian is the favourite here. Te should take this.
That leaves only the problem of this new weight cut, wich seems to be a bigger X factor than most peoaple anticipated.
