Junior Dos Santos = Chuck Liddell

After watching the fight last night, I realized that JDS is a heavyweight version of Liddell in his prime. His style is using his effective TDD (not as good as Chuck's, but still pretty good) to keep the fight standing so he can out box his opponents while rarely utilizing kicks or other strikes.
Not only that, but if you watched the fight last night closely you will notice that JDS's stance, demeanor, and motion very closely mimicked Liddell's style. I know it may sound like a random comparison but if you rewatch the fight you will see what I'm talking about.

At the end of the day, both JDS and Chuck have used their styles very effectively and now JDS is fighting for the title. JDS is the heavyweight Chuck Liddell, and he will be elite in this division for a long time!

I agree but i believe JDS had better footwork and head movement then chuck. Chuck would get in alot of "scraps" if you will, but he came out on top 90% of the time because of his iron chin (at the time) and his technical placing of his strikes.

I see the resemblance too... and on some of the photos JDS looks like Randy Orton from WWE too

Favorite fighters:
1. Badr Hari
2. Remy Bonjasky
3. Mauricio Rua
4. Anderson Silva
5. Alistair Overeem

JDS has better footwork yes, but he is not a fighter who moves his head a lot to get inside or evade punches, he relies on hiw speed and in and out footwork.

I do see the comparison to Chuck, however it would seem out of both men in their prime JDS is more evolved as a fighter, as is the sport as a whole.

I hate these comparisions, they don't do anything. It's like saying Chuck Liddell is just like Rampage, and the only reason he has such a big following is because Rampage didn't come to the UFC till later in his career.

Chuck Liddell made a name for himself KOing B level fighters. That's not to say that he doesn't have wins over top fighters, but just that there is a lot of them who aren't top of the pack fighters.

Chuck Liddell = Chuck Lidell

Chuck fought the best fighters of his era. He ducked no one.
If the challengers were not up to your standards that is hardly his fault.MMA is a different sport from even 5 years ago.
Everyone says Overeem is the best MMA striker of the moment. Check out his fight against Chuck on youtube then come back and say he fought second rate fighters.

Without his popularity we would still be watching Sumo wrestlers fighting kickboxers

Show some respect!

They both throw a mean lead uppercut.

I don't have anything against Chuck Liddell but I definitely don't regard him as the best of his era. If Rampage or Shogun was in the UFC when Chuck Liddell was the reigning champion, then it would be a whole different story.

The top LHWs weren't in the UFC at that time, so I'm not saying he was ducking anybody, you're just putting words in my mouth.

JDS showed awesome head movement last night. 10x better than he did in any of his previous fights and I'm sure that trait is here to stay.

But yeah he is a great boxer with awesome TDD. The one difference is JDS has good BJJ.

I've always felt this way, I won't deny what Chuck did but Rampage and Shogun have been fighting better competition than him and Wanderlei.

In regards to dos Santos being the "Heavyweight Liddell" I don't think that's accurate, and I hope not, I was really nervous Carwin would land something and dos Santos is going against big guys with big power, he really needs to utilize that ground game more, his take downs do look nice and being trained by Big Nog, I would love to see Junior use his grappling more.
