I like Dana in interviews, and he definitely knows the game. No real issues with this interview write up. I guess he told it like it is.
I don't really like that he's talking about just giving Diego a title shot. I don't really think Diego's the next-best guy at 170 right now. I think he's a great fighter, but I'd like to see him fight Fitch or Hughes or Parisyan before he gets a title shot. Beyond that, he's a fantastic fighter.
I like what he's said about Baroni and Shamrock. He's got balls to pick sides on a bout like that, and he's got a sense of humor about it.
I don't know how much truth there is behind what he said about Lindland. Frankly, I think Dana's a little bit pissed about not having Rich "Pretty Boy" Franklin as his Middleweight champ anymore and he'd be happy to have pretty much any American come in and get that title back. Lindland would smash Silva, and I'm sure Dana would like that.
Dana said that there may be a fight coming up between Ortiz and Rashad Evans or Keither Jardine. Frankly, I'd like to see Jardine and Evans fight each other and then have the winner of that fight a guy like Tito or Babalu. But that's just me.
Dana kept it real about Herring, and he basically said what we all said on the forum. That O'Brien layngay'd his way to victory and that bores the f*cking hell out of all of us. Herring is the better fighter and if the fight got to stay standing we would have seen that.
He kept it real about Mir (admitting, basically, that the chances of a comeback aren't very good), Machida (he's a beast), Mayhem (he's fun to watch, even if he just lost to Frank Trigg), Assuerio Silva (a good fighter and a good aquisition for the UFC), Rampage (really deserves an opportunity to tear Chuck's head off) and CroCop (he's a f*cking machine).
