There really is no reason for this breakup unless one of the two decided they were more important and had a reason take advantage of the other.

And, now Spike is being spiteful. What sucks is that there is no reason for me to watch Spike anymore after the UFC is gone from the channel.
I agree 100% with everything you've wrote here. If the UFC isn't on Spike, then I'd have no reason to ever go to that channel again. However, the run that UFC has had on Spike has helped both entities immeasurably. I almost never watch TV, unless it's MMA. If I have to go order some new TV package in order to get a channel that shows the UFC, well then the UFC just lost a viewer. Seems like they should kiss and make up, whatever it takes. No sense in messing up a good thing that has led to tremendous growth. On the other hand, some people say they wish ABC, CBS, or NBC would pick up the UFC. Frankly I'd rather it stay on Spike if I had a choice. I don't watch those channels either, and they are kinda stodgy old school networks. When CBS did the MMA shows with Kimbo Slice, it was a farce. UFC needs to run the show, and I don't think they could if they had to partner with one of those old fashioned networks. By the way, the only thing I watch on Versus is MMA too.

No kidding. All sports just need to see what the NHL did by signing with Versus as opposed to more mainstream networks. Who cares if the money is good when no one sees your product.
