Is the crowd affecting the judges (and you)?

Do you think a judge is influenced by what the crowd reacts to?

For instance, when chuck hits a guy(normal power), everybody cheers him. But a punch about the same by another guy is totally ignored. Is the judge giving the same credit for that punch?

What about you? Do you feel like when you watch a fight, you see what the crowd reacts to?

Try to watch many fights on mute, you would be surprised on how crowd seems important in the way you personally see a fight.

Hell No, Dude... not me.

I hate it when those monkeys boo... only if they knew how much it takes to fight in that cage.

I can understand if a guy that doesnt know anything about MMA was more entertained by the influence of the crowds cheers and boos.

I see where your'e coming from, but I don't really think so. They would have to judge it completely on THEIR opinion.

They wouldn't be much of a judge if they listened to the crowd when they booed. The booing just shows poor class and how little people still know about the sport, they view it in the same light as boxing. I can only hope that in the future with more exposure the booing will become less frequent, that is a big hope, because people are a**holes sometimes and those people always seem to show up at events.

Here's the thing about UFC. Their judges are BOXING JUDGES, they aren't even MMA judges. And to an extent I think maybe. The people involved with UFC are the people who are the money loving type, if it'll get em money they're for it. I think they have surely let crowd favorites win when they shouldn't have a few times.

From a fan point of view the crowd is annoying.

I spoke with Yves Edwards before and I asked, does it bother you knowing thousands of people are watching you and screaming? He told me it didn't, to him they weren't even there he replied, but he's an MMA big event veteran. The crowd probably does bother the newcomers. I'd rather fight in PRIDE b/c the UFC crowd would distract me and make me direct my anger toward them.

The best place to watch a ufc event is at a bar... ya can hardly here the commentators (a blessing in disguise sometimes) and rarely here the crowd booing.

Might sound like im being ignorant but hey it pisses me off when the dumbass drunk young bucks are booing cuz there on the ground or sizing eachother up.

i didn't realize this until i heard an interview with Renzo Gracie. of course boxing judges don't know anything about the ground game and will give the nod to whoever did better striking. MMA has been around for over a decade and a half now, i hope they start training MMA judges soon.

If judges are influenced by the crowd, its no better than a ref that will throw a flag just because the crowd boos at a Football game.

to me personally, the crowd makes no difference on how i view the fight because i know they are still ignorant to the sport and don't know what they should or shouldn't boo or cheer

i dont think the booing affects the judges but the booing does make the refs stand up fighters quicker. I hate to see the refs stand up guys because the crowd doesnt know anything about grappling. If your gonna boo when the fights hit the ground i think you shouldnt buy tickets.

No i dont think so, the judges are proffesional and they have to do their job. Judges dont listen to crowds because they can be idiots who boo because they feel like it or because they hate a certain fighter. The judges are proffesionals and have to judge the fight fairly.

I think its becoming impossible to take the US fans serious anymore. They boo groundfighting for god's-sake. I think the judges are too professional to take stock in how the audience reacts to certain things.
