Not every fighter in the UFC is going to get near a title shot - plenty of them just have too many limitations. Pat Barry is one of those guys, mainly because he is smaller than the majority and as Mckeever hilariously stated 'grapple retarded'.
What makes Barry different, and why a lot of fans get behind him and support him, isnt as much to do with his fighting (Kongo will probably beat him and he is hardly Championship material) but rather his personality, as numerous other posters have said.
He seems funny, and good with fans. But most importantly it is literally like watching someones realisation of a dream when you watch Barry. Most of these guys are under so much pressure and so intense, stressed out and psyched up by the time they get to the cage they probably never get to enjoy what an incredible experience it truly is, until they finally learn (by which they are retired and shot to shit) and wish they could have it back.
At least with Barry you know he is enjoying it and truly living his dream as it comes. I actually liked the CroCop fight because it showed how much he loved and respected the sport and its history. I wouldnt want it to become a regular thing, but every now and then, its nice to see a true fan enjoy his moment. Its refreshing.
