Fitch and Kos are both injured, probably Penn or a Shields rematch.

Yeh, these two and Alvez are the true gatekeepers at Welter. Without beating one of the 3, it is hard to justify a title shot (unless for Shields who did it all in another org). But Dan Hardy getting a shot was rediculous.
Although it makes sense Dana will use Condit as the next challenger after Diaz and then Fitch will finally get his second shot if he can beat Penn in a rematch.
Rick Story was looking like he was getting close too, until he came out flat in his last fight.

I would be happy with Condit fighting either Penn or Shields to get a title shot.

It'll probably be Penn, Shields is already matched up with Berger.

Everyone at Ww is considered a revolving gatekeeper until the champ moves on,
I see the only one being able to dethrone GSP is rory, and by the time he is deserving of a title shot, GSP will be at Mw Or celebrating early retirement at the age of 32.
I say rory because of his size, strictly mma training, not just a specific discipline, and the whole teacher becomes the student, he is the only full time Ww Gsp trains with.
the two will never fight

Personally i think Condit has a better shot at besting GSP then Nick Diaz does. As we saw Condit is not that hard to take down but he is great at reversing and getting back up. His standup on the other hand is much better then GSP's. But even so i think GSP takes at-least 7 out of 10 fights with him if not more. Im glad Condit said he would fight GSP even though they train together.

Condit vs Penn, lets go.

Yes it was. When he worked that, that's when I realized that Stun Gun's power from coming in to the Pride theme was not going to save him tonight.
And on a side note, Mckeever, Game of Thones is absolutely brilliant. I finished the season last Friday off my dvr, and I couldn't help myself. I drove that evening to bookstore and picked up the sequel. I'm now on the 3rd book, and still loving it. And you'd be pleased to know that Tyrion's hilarity continues.

Kampmann has the best skill set to defeat GSP because his wrestling is good enough that he will be able to stop some of GSPs takedowns and force him to strike more than Condit can as well as having the BJJ to be a threat on the ground for sweeps and subs. He only has 2 and a half rounds of cardio though if he could go at least 4 without gassing he would be a big threat. I don't think GSP would even engage Condit standing he would just take him down nonstop and get to halfguard so he can lay on him without having to worry about Condit racking up points with his full guard offense.

From what I can see here are the challengers.
Nick Diaz - pitter patter boxing, strong BJJ, with excellent conditioning. None will matter though as GSP is better overall and stronger. UD win for GSP
Stun Gun - good clinch, strong, rangy, but fades after the 3rd round. Still a UD for GSP
*if Stun Gun would have challenged for the belt*
Rory - definitely a yoked out kid with KO power, wrestling background. Has the ability to pull an upset.
Condit - is the most well rounded and probably offers the biggest threat. But remember he got dominated by Rory Mcdonald who trains with GSP as a rookie in their camp.
Barring a mistake from GSP I don't see anybody truly challenging him. He has to move up to MW or catchweight to see what we all want to see. Then Anderson Silva has to move up to LHW to fight JBJ. Man those two fights would make me bounce off walls.
