UFC 132 bonuses

Quote:
LAS VEGAS – Tito Ortiz, Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber each earned $75,000 "Fight Night" bonuses for their performances at Saturday's "UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber II" event.

Condit earned the night's "Knockout of the Night" award, Ortiz picked up the "Submission of the Night" bonus, and Cruz and Faber took home "Fight of the Night" honors.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the bonus winners and award amounts while at UFC 132's post-event press conference.

Condit faced stiff competition for his knockout award with Chris Leben, Melvin Guillard and Rafael Dos Anjos all notching impressive knockout victories. However, Condit's leaping knee and follow-up punches on the floor over the previously undefeated Dong Hyun Kim were enough to earn him the nod for the evening's "Knockout of the Night" bonus.

Ortiz was perhaps the most unlikeliest winner of a "Fight Night" bonus. Counted out by most of the experts following a five-fight winless streak in the octagon, Ortiz stunned prospect Ryan Bader with a right hand before latching onto a guillotine choke and forcing the stoppage. As the lone submission on the card, the bout took the bonus by default. However, the shock value of the result likely would have earned the extra paycheck on almost any night.

Cruz and Faber were the evening's clear-cut "Fight of the Night" winner. The two bantamweights, the first-ever to headline a UFC event, clashed toe-to-toe for 25 minutes in a tightly-contested affair. Cruz ultimately walked away with the unanimous-decision nod, but both fighters earned the respect of the fans and an extra paycheck.

UFC 132 took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The night's main card aired on pay-per-view, two preliminary-card fights aired on Spike TV, and the night's first four prelim bouts streamed on Facebook.

So happy Condit got KOTN, that was f*cking SICK! Congrats to Tito also - GREAT performance, certainly shocked the hell out of me.

And FOTN was a no-brainer, Cruz baby!

Good stuff! I wonder how the UFC feels having to pay Tito his quota, SOTN award and now have to see em around for another fight or two...haha! I for one always thought his fights were entertaining win or lose. It's his persona that turns off a lot of people though. IE: The whole "graveyard routine" was a bit douchey...but that's Tito for you...lolz! That's his way of celebrating five years of L's...

The only thing missing tonight was a W for Wandy. Man that's a sucky b-day present.

The sub and fight of the night were obvious, but damn, kotn was a tough pick. After the dos Anjos fight I thought, this could be it, a one punch KO. Then Guillard steamRolled with a filthy TKO. Then a gd flying knee KO delivered by Condit, followed by Leben smashing Wandy in 30 seconds. Big, vicious finishes tonight.
