No. Shogun just lost the title, he's way further up the ladder than Tito. He's also rematching Forrest at Rio. Maybe if he loses to Forrest the fight would make sense.

Tito needs to fight Bonnar (rep Edlavis), Thiago, Soszynski or even welcome Vera back to the octagon.

Disagree Kry, those guys you mention there are relative nobodies now in the UFC. Bonner of course has his legacy or wars, but he is nowhere near the top of the chain.

So we are talking about Bader he just beat who is a few steps ahead of all of those guys. Those guys are all one fight from being cut. The obvious thing is to progress to a better fighter after a win not fight a worse one

Bader beat nog, tito beat bader. Tito jumps ahead of bader and nog. He wont be fighting forrest, evans or machida becauses its already been done. The only thing left is Shogun or Rampage. You've also got to remember how much he gets paid per fight and they arent going to be paying him that to fight stefan bonner or brandon vera, because lets face it neither of those will draw a big crowd.

Oldfan, how could I miss that Bader was such a can? :-)

I never quite understood where the Tito hate came from or why people dislike his personality. I mean, the dude's fighting with a cracked skull, the man is a hero.

Tito is one of those people who should never have a microphone and camera in their face.

I've talked to him in person and he was super cool.

Even his recent blogs have been surprisingly good reads but, when he talks to the camera it is "EPIC FAIL"

First time I've ever used that phrase

I presume thats loaded with sarcasm rauno :-p

BUT! If forrest griffin came out and said he had a cracked skull, people would probably think he was extra cool or something. Basically anything Tito says about injury is thrown back at him because of the general dislike of him.

If you throw personality out the window, fighting after those surgeries he's had - find the videos and find me a worse looking surgery then that - the man deserves huge credit

I actually felt good for Tito winning today. I've hated on him a lot, mainly because in the past he was a trash talking douche with a loudmouth hooker for a wife.

But lately he's done a u-turn and become much more respectful and humble instead of the trash talker he usually was. And the hooker is gone as well.

Heel turns into Face and beats ex-contender! lovin it.

Don't think he's gonna get near the title, but I think he'll have a few more good fights and wins now against decent competition.

Aside from that Tito is the longest serving fighter in the UFC. He was there in the early days, he helped make the sport. He was the poster boy.

Agreed. Tito did a lot for this sport - just as much as Liddel, yet gets zero respect. Hopefully a convincing win over a solid fighter like Bader will rectify this to an extent.

BJ isnt relevent anymore, until he gets a decent win under his belt and he never produces the goods anymore when it matters.

There isnt even an argument to suggest BJ is no longer relevant. Did you watch the Fitch fight? BJ is at least top 5 at LW and WW

Frank Mir when did he arrive? A lot later then Tito. And how is he significantly more relevant then tito.

Frank Mir is signficantly more relevant in his division. Mir is a top 5 HW, and is one win away from another title shot.

One more more win and Tito will have a title shot.

Tito needs 2 more wins against better opponents than Bader to get a shot.

How is that less relevant then Mir? Rampage?, you might have a point with rampage, but he is still not oldschool like tito is

Tito started fighting around a year or so before Rampage. Page is every bit as old school as Tito - just because he wasnt in the early UFC is no reason to suggest he isnt.

In general though i agree with you. It was terrific watching Tito win, i thoroughly enjoyed it.

It was a good win for Tito, been a fan for a long time. I don't see him competing with the guys at the top of the division though. Shogun, Bones, Rampage would all beat him, Machida already beat him, Rashad's gotten a lot better since he fought Tito and I think Rashad would work Tito now. A fight against either Rich Franklin or Rogerio Nogueira would both make sense to me.

Tito Ortiz is the guy who truly turned me into a UFC fan. I remember when he had his TUF season with Shamrock (at least i think that's who it was?) before their rubber match and I respected Ortiz so much for his willingness to talk himself up and PROMOTE THE SPORT, which is exactly what the UFC needed in its infancy.
People look at Tito's antics and think that he's a bad person but really he's just hyping up the sport and it's partly thanks to him that the UFC is where it is today. Even Dana recognizes this which is why he pays Tito so much money and refused to cut him even after not winning a fight in 5 years.

The dude is a great guy, great personality, and still a good fighter. He fought a close fight with Machida and tried to push the action in that fight, he had a draw with Rashad Evans, had a close loss to Forrest and then Hamill, but the key is that all of these guys are great fighters and all the fights were CLOSE.
This is why i was shocked to see Tito as a +500 dog against Bader, and I strongly considered putting big money on him before i chickened out and put it on Leben and Cruz instead (who ended up winning anyway).

Perfect win for Tito. He didn't have to scrape by and get a split, or go through a grueling fight. He went out there and walked right through Bader.

It reminded me of when he put Machida in the triangle choke. I almost crapped my pants with excitement.
