And he would get KO'd badly again.

The thing is: today's Wanderlei Silva will never beat Chris Leben.

Yes he does.

It's not like his opponents let him win. He beat them fair and square.

wandy rushed things because the first punch he threw already broke Leben's nose limba.

He went in for the kill ad got killed. You cannot rush things like that against a fresh Leben.

If he fights a more patient fight like he did against Michael Bisping.. then he outpoints Leben by a large margin just like he did against Bisping who beat Leben decisivly.

Every loser is a winner, when hindsight is thrown into the mix.

That's the thing.

Silva can't fight that fight. He just can't.

Silva can't follow a game plan, he can't fight smart. His brain (already in agony after so many hard knockout losses) doesn't function like that.

Silva is the type of fighter that will fight where/how the fight takes place:
- against Bisping he fought like Bisping
- against Leben he fought like Leben
- against Lidell he fought like Lidell
- against Franklin he fought like Franklin

etc

He hurt Leben in that fight. Agreed. But he didn't hurt him in the manner that justified for him to become that wreckless and going all out. That was his instinct though.

But that's what Silva is: an "instinct fighter".

He needs to realise that he can't do this anymore or he'll get really f*cked up for the years to come.

Either adapt your style, fight smarter - especially against guys like Leben, who can knock you out cold - or retire.

It's just a sad image seeing one of the most important and dominant MMA fighters of all time, faceplant like that and trying to grapple the refferree.

Problem with Silva is his recent record.

2-6 with 4 brutal knockout losses.

Like i've said: it's just sad to see him like that.

Chuck Liddell story all over again.

But he just did exactly that against Bisping and won by a large margin.

I don't think so. It was a very close fight in my opinion.

You might have missed a part of the idea in my post.

Yes - he fought like that against Bisping, but Bisping isn't a brawler like Leben is.

The chance of getting brutally knocked-out against Bisping were slim.

Against Leben on the other hand...that's a different story.

Everyone knew Leben can/and will be hurt at some time in this fight.

And...in almost every prediction i've read on MMA related sites, the majority was agreeing that at one point in the fight Leben will come back and retaliate.

It was just a question on how Silva would react after hurting Leben.
Unfortunatelly for him, he did it "Silva style": go for the kill, based on instinct, not brain.

He could have easily taken a step backwards after hurting Leben, reset and try to repeat what he did prior to hurting Leben.

But, he didn't.
Because that's who Wanderlei Silva is.
