His problem is that he just isn't that atheltic. He has the physique of an old man. He's done well in the past because he was facing guys who weren't athletic specimens either, except Kurt Pelligrino. Guys with the speed, reaction time etc of Dos Anjos and Siver will beat him every time. It's really impressive how well Soti has done without being athletically gifted. It really shows how good his technique is.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

While his boxing is adequate, his submission game is his bread and butter.
Exactly this - although he's not very good at getting the fight to the ground so he can implement his strength.

More wrestling + better game-planning. Soti'll be back

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig

Soti is still a beast, he just needs to get back on the horse and string wins together again, LW is too stacked though it's a joke as there's probably 20 top class fighters.

The key to jumping ahead at LW is to stop people, UDs are moving you up slow in this division.

Not gonna check my vbookie but I think I bet against him in his last fight as well as last night. Not so much that George is crappy but because RDA is underrated. He took that uppercut from Stephens and had a couple other tough fights but you can see his talent during his losses.

My only problem with Soti is his takedowns suck. You need to be able to get to the floor if your game is submissions and he can't do it against fighters with even average tdd. He fought well last night but just happened to end up on the wrong end of an exchange. Looked eerily similar to the Koscheck and Thiago fight imo.

Whenever a fighter gets KO'd, you'll always find the fans of said fighter are a bit reluctant to talk about it initially. So threads like this inevitably get filled by those who always thought Soti wasn't so hot... and are keen to remind everybody of it.

I don't know why people are this shocked about the result of this fight.

1. Dos Anjos is a very underrated fighter. Great BJJ, decent wrestling and his muay thai is good. And improving all the time.
People bringing up his KO loss against Wiman are the ones trying to convince others that he's not that good.

2. Sotiropoulus doesn't have great stand-up.
Lauzon was beating him standing before he slowed down (gassed) in their fight.
Siver was beating him standing.
His boxing may be pretty technical, but he doesn't have power in his strikes.

Considering his strong point is his BJJ, i believe he should focus on his wrestling (takedowns), in order to take the fight where he feels best.

I have to admit i bought some of his hype (not all of it), especially after his wins over Stevenson and Pellegrino, but now - looking back at those two's recent performances, Soti's wins don't mean much tbh.

3. Soti had a terrible game plan for Dos Anjos, one of the worst i've seen in recent time

I only feel bad because i picked Dos Anjos to win this and switched to Sotiropoulus in the last minute, something that made me lose a bet.

.

BELIEVE!

Sounds like you're completely ignoring the fact that he just got outclassed by two fighters. It's easy to say oh he's still great he just needs to win a few, but he's not winning because he's not good enough. The reality is you put him in there with anyone with TDD and he's in trouble.

Not at all, those losses are to RDA and Siver two genuine talents, people on here going on like Soti is no longer relevant.

I'm not even a Soti fan but too many people on here start flip flopping as soon as a fighter has a bad fight.

Yeah fair enough but Soti getting a couple of wins against low-mid tiers doesn't really mean that much because it's been shown he's not currently good enough to hang with better fighters, and Dos Anjos is pretty unproven himself anyway.

I just think Soti was always limited, his ground game is sick but standup and takedowns not too good. He's never going to be champion, someone like Guillard would put him away in the 1st too.
