It's pretty easy to argue the UFC was nothing in 2001 when they purchased it. It was losing the original owner tons of money, on the verge of bankruptcy and banned in many states. If the Fertittas didn't step in then the UFC would have just gone away like some of the other lesser promotions have and MMA in north america would be no where near where it is today.

I think he meant that when Zuffa first purchased the UFC, it was falling apart. They turned the company around and built it into the huge brand that it is today.
