Lorenzo Fertitta outworks Vitor Belfort in the gym

Quote:
Former middleweight contender Vitor Belfort trained with UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta this week and said he was thoroughly outworked by him.

“People, I see my boss working harder than me today and I am motivating myself with him. What are you doing?” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Fertitta is well into working out, as can be seen from his arms alone. But he also trains in the martial arts as much as he can.

Fighters Only did a feature interview with the billionaire casino owner two years ago and learned that he is an avid Muay Thai practitioner.

When on the road with the UFC he often takes advantage of the opportunity to train with some of the coaches that are involved with the particular event, Mark Dellagrotte among others.

The contract governing interactions and decision-making between the Lorenzo Fertitta, his brother Frank and company president Dana White supposedly also includes a clause to the effect that any dispute that cannot be resolved will be settled by a submission grappling match.

Meanwhile, Belfort is recuperated from his UFC 126 knockout loss to Anderson Silva. He returns to the cage at UFC 133 in August against Yoshihiro Akiyama, who is on an 0-2 run.
This is what makes the UFC cooler then other sports orgs. Its run by strong dudes who love doing what they push. Give me these kind of brash crude guys any day over suited fat sweaty old perverts who care about absolutely nothing but money. The dudes who run my football club would probably break a toe if they kicked a football. Many years of the softest leather armarni shoes and sitting in fancy cars and jets. And yet they think they know whats best for the sport.

Sure, the Fertittas might be complete crooks. But again, so are all the chairmen in all the other big money sports orgs. At least they get involved and train hard. They are in a far better position to know whats good for the athletes then, say, this c*unt:

Hah. The clause mentioned in the article amuses me. I've seen Lorenzo before and thought, "He's an impressive looking man," but didn't realize how into martial arts he is. That's actually quite epic. Nice article.

Damn he's got gunz. Dana has transformed over the years, but imagine the amount of free training, supplements, and resources they have. It's unlimited. It aint cheap to train properly. I remember reading a story about Jeff Monson living out of his car and barely able to afford supplements. Anyways yah this is what separates a lot of the other sports. They (entire management) are fans first. That's what makes the sport special.

I feel that they're so suitable to lead the UFC due to the fact they built it up from nothing. They're not some absentee boardroom members making calls based on financial figures, they actually got involved when things were small fry and needed proper attention. They probably got to learn everything about the sport just like every fighter and trainer does.

Yeh, I have to admit, I hated Dana for a long time. Trying to make a celebrity out of himself etc. But as the years have gone on and he has become a celebrity in his own right and the organisation has become mainsteam and his personality not change one bit except perhaps become ever slightly more humble, I have nothing but respect for the guys at the top of the UFC. They are making it a marketing monster and run it mainly with the fans in mind. Nothing in the world comes close to the way they run this organisation and it a refreshing change for the fans who make or break a sport!

How do you figure?? From the business decisions iv seen Fertitas involved in, they all seem very fair. Iv heard rumors about the whole "Las Vegas Casino Mafia" but i seriously doubt its like people talk. I hear people acting like the Fertitas are the real life version of Robert Deniro in Casino, which absolutely aint true. is there any incidents or stories that show the Fertitas to be a bunch of "Complete Crooks"?? im very interested. They actually intrigue me more then Dana does.

I dont believe they are crooks. Although it has been said by various sources that they have some shady connections. Nothing has been proven. Hence my use of the word "might". I only put that in to make the point that even if they were crooks ( which they are not in my opinion ) they still rock. Also to make the point that in the sports world, nearly all "legit" owners are crooked as shit.

... blah blah blah. I agree that my wording sucked. The main point of my post was to give them props and to state that I believe they are the perfect heads for the UFC. Long may it continue.
