You mean Brett Favre? What exactly do they have in common? Besides the fact that they are both legends of their sport nearing the end of their career I don't see much....
I might go big on Hughes here. The only way Diego wins is by keeping it standing and bumrushing Hughes. On the mat Hughes is much much better than Diego, and on the feet Hughes is a better technical striker than Diego, as sad as that is.

Obviosly you didn't watch the Thiago Alves fight. You make a good point though, he has only lost to elite level fighters. I think Hughes is a difficult stylistic match up for Diego, but Diego's aggresiveness, cardio and scrambling ability could get him the win here.

The people picking Hughes in this fight are the same people that picked Randy Couture to beat lyoto machida. Give it up.
Diego is no Lyoto Machida, but Hughes doesn't stand a much of a chance in this fight.
He's old, slow and his wrestling isn't close to what it used to be. Diego via domination.
The Renzo Gracie fight is still one of the worst MMA fight's I think I've ever seen.

I'm pulling for Hughes, but it's a tough fight.
Matt doesn't have the best chin these days and he's not as fast and doesn't have all that overwhelming experience he once had going into fights, things are pretty even these days.
I think Hughes can take him down and control him, but I also think Sanchez can rock him and put him away.
Tough fight to call.

I can't bring myself to get hyped up for this fight ... I wouldn't be surprised if Diego catches Hughes with a clean strike and finishes him. But Matt is such a big, strong wrestler that he could just control him for 3 rounds as mentioned above ...

Hughes doesn't stand a chance at holding Diego down for a period of three rounds.
He's older, he's slower and he just isn't half the fighter he used to be, that's the truth. Just go ahead and watch that Renzo Gracie fight, it's just dire.
Diego has one of the most under rated ground games and scrambling in the game. Fitch struggled big time to hold him down and Clay Guida couldn't do it.
I know Diego isn't any world beater, but he's a solid fighter, I just see this as another mismatch, hang em up Matt.

Obviously you missed the weigh ins were Thiago Alves showed up grossly overweight. The fight wasn't at WW and it wasn't because Alves wasn't in shape he looked in great shape it was all muscle. The extra weight was muscle and dehydrated muscle at that.

After that Martin Kampman fight your still going Hughes Toxic? im surprised. For one Hughes is WAYYYYYYYY to slow for the pace Diego will bring, and im a huge Hughes fan, both Hughes and Diego are in my top 7, but Hughes will ether get TKO'ed or Subbed because once Hughes gets dominated by a faster and more technical fighter with a better game plan he seems to give in, and i see Diego ether landing a nasty shot or making Hughes quit mentally and pull off a sub.
Thinking Hughes will simple overpower Diego after watching how much he improved after joining Greg Jackson is silly imo, but we'll see

Hughes will win this. LOL at the people who thinks he's past the hill. Hughes will dominate. I'm betting every credit I have on him especially if he's the underdog.
Diego's wrestling isn't that good. His standup isn't that good either. Hughes will dominate. Bookmark this post and bring it back up after the fight.

I see Sanchez winning, maybe even by TKO. I hope Hughes proves me wrong though because I can't stand Diego.
