My next question for Jon would be: Do you like to get hit?

Nick Diaz, Bonnar, Wanderlei, and Leben do though...lolz!

But I get what he's saying. Phil is extremely hesitant and always falls back to his wrestling game which shows his lack of confidence in his striking ability and yeah the fact that he doesn't want to take in any damage. He seems out of his element which is too bad. My initial reaction was that Phil Davis would be able to challenge JBJ two years down the line, but he's only shown a ground game. JBJ would light him up on the feet and completely neutralize the ground game. That leaves Rashad and Machida. Rampage is gonna be a fun one...believe we're gonna see a similar fight as Shogun. Question is will Rampage tap...

I agree with JBJ - unfortunately Davis is still relatively one-dimensional. His striking looked extremely elementary against Lil Nog and it appeared as though he started to panic when he couldn't get the fight to the ground.

Really looking forward to seeing him fight Evans, because he's going to have to set his shots up MUCH better if he's going to have any chance of getting Rashad to the ground. If it does hit the mat and Davis is on top, I see him having a high chance of passing Rashad's guard and getting a sub. Hell, I can't EVER remember a time when Rashad was on his back ... anyone?

Thanks to limba for this AWESOME sig

I think Rashad thinks he has the advantage on the feet but Phil's reach may cause an issue cause Rashad doesn't like to get hit either. I think that Rashad over commiting to the stand up will leave him open for the TD. Also Rashad gets in trouble everytime he is on his back. Everytime Rashad has been taken down he as taken damage, I think this is what Phil needs to work on to beat him, power shots from the top.

We know what he means though. Of course nobody likes to get hit but even in MMA some guys take it better than others. Some guys (BJ Penn is the one that stands out for me) don't even seem to notice when they get hit. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. Does it? Of course it does but he has mastered ignoring that discomfort, he sets it aside and as far as I can tell it doesn't affect his ability to fight significantly.

Now lets compare that to say Brock. Every time he gets hit solidly we seem him get flustered. It clearly bothers him, which is normal, but more importantly it affects how he fights and not in a good way. If you are going to have success in MMA you don't have to be a stone faced machine who can effortlessly shrug off punches like BJ (although it helps) but you need to be able to take it without changing the way you fight.

I'm not ready to believe in Phil Davis yet. He has potential, but I think the lil nog fight showed us exactly where he's at. Cool guy though.

Havn't really thought about this fight til now.

I believe Rashad will TKO Phil...in fact I want him to WIN so he can fight against JBJ. Phil is a cool kat, but he will get wrecked by JBJ. He doesn't have the necessary tools to win.

This is Phil's biggest fight of his career. He's shown he was quite tentative against Lil Nog. Rashad is wily enough to mix it up and confuse Phil. Phil is ONLY comfortable when he gains top position. Once Rashad nullifies that he'll be panicking I'd imagine.

Hope we can see Rashad vs JBJ for NYE then Machida right after. I have to see in my own eyes if JBJ can defend and take out the top contenders in the LHW division. If he can then there's one man left.

I am most certainly pulling for Rashad because I want a Rashad/JBJ showdown. JBJ saying Phil doesn't like to get hit is funny considering JBJ hasn't been exactly tested in that way either, so we don't know how HE'LL REACT.
