They will not allow it.

But Dana already said in an interview that he really does not want to have any kind of tournament. "We had a tournament with the LW's and the final match turned out to be a draw so..(Heheh)"

Probably the dumbest excuse i've ever heard.

No, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick both allow it as well (I've been to fights in Halifax and Moncton). Newfoundland might as well.

Edit: I may as well shill for the company that puts on fights in NS and NB: it's Extreme Cage Combat (ECC). Here's the link: Combat Productions - Home of East Coast Reality Combat

Most of the fighters are bums, but you get a few UFC journeymen or up and comers every now and then (Jason MacDonald fought and kicked some dude's ass in halifax last spring).

Years ago a LW could win a HW because the HW could just punch, and the LW would get him on the ground and submit him.

Now EVERYONE has got ground skills, so the advantage is power. If a LW and a HW have near equal skills the HW will win mostly due to his power. Wether thats takedowns, punches or the ground game.

You even see it now, people moveing up a weight and loseing as they cant handle the power of the people who are naturally at that weight.

No one under MW would have a chance, and my moneys on Cro Cop anyway.

I'd really like to see how Chuck/Randy and those LHW's that can fight Heavyweight can fair in a tourniment.
I'd only give Randy a chance at an open weight tourny cus the guy has heart and has competed in the 2 diferent weight classes...so it wont be nothig new to him.....but the likes of an open weight tourny ever happening in UFC or the usa for any matter will probably never happen....you got to think about it... why you think guys like Chuck, Tito, Franklin & such have stayed in UFC & has not attempted joining other overseas organizations like Pride FC(except chuck but he ran back to UFC)...wells its because they have the advatange in fighting in smaller weight classes to get size & power advantage & the rules of the NSAC only better protect & baby them up...cmon now tito & chuck really walk around as 220 plus pounders (heavy weights to be exact) they're huge light heavyweights....Rich Franklin & Evan Tanner?... these mofo are really 200 lbers light heavy weights & have even competed in those weight classes but to only find out that they were no good angainst their real weight classes so had to drop weight classes to get an edge in size & power...UFC & the NSAC baby their fighters too much why you think PRIDE FC nuthuggers always have a say in this when it comes to the questioning of who are the tougher fighters of the 2 organizations...Pride at least backs their fighters up with the open weight Grand prix tournys that a lot of their top fighters have competed in...(IE..being tougher & not wussys being babyed & held back)....
