A Good Couture vs. Sylvia Article

Taken from ufcmania.com

According to Big Tim
-Randy took the fight after Gonzaga and Vera declined it.
-He saw some vulnerability in Mirko's first UFC fight.
-He attributes UFC fans booing to ignorance.
-He plans on releasing hunting DVD's- come on, you know you'll check them out.

Joe Rogan backs up Tim despite how much he really respects Randy..its always seemed like Rogan was a Randy fanboy. This is a really good article. Check it out everyone.

Yeah, he has a ways before he can call himself the best, thats for sure. He is less accomplished than Fedor, to say the least.

Maybe he's trying to act like a boxer, where every single one that is interviewed believes he is the best in the world.

When he says best heaveyweight I really hope he means just the ufc. Sure he gets alot of shit from fans, but the fact is his size and the sound foundation that MFS has established are the soul reasons why Tim has been able to hold that belt. The sad thing about this fight is how Dana and the ufc brass are counting on Tim destroying Couture; like Tito did to Ken and how Huges did to Gracie. Sure it might make Tim a household name, but garbage also holds that title and when it gets old it stinks.

Of course Tim is going to say he's the best. A lot of fighters consider themselves to be the best. If they don't have that kind of confidence then thier opponents are going to capitalize on it. So I won't bash him on that.

Of course I don't think he is the best! If he can beat Cro Cop then I will be impressed.

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

There is something that bothers me about this article. Most of you know that I am a big supporter of Sylvia's. I think that he is one of the top 3 HW's in the world if not the top. This article makes me worry for the big man. I watch a ton of sports and almost always the champion loses due to a lack of focus. In this article, Tim mentions his legacy, retirement, and hunting DVD's. That doesn't sound like someone who is training to be the best fighter in the world. It sounds like someone who has made too much money and wants to move on to other things.

I did like his explanation of the boring AA III fight. It seems a lot of people don't understand how difficult it is to keep coming forward when the guy in front of you hits you as hard as Tim can. IMO Tim should take over the fight at that point and punish his opponent. It is clear that he has not been ready to do that. Ali used to pummel his opponents once they stopped chasing him because he knew that they were beat.

Tim better not underestimate Randy. I think that Chuck did that once and he ended up in Pride for a bit. If Tim doesn't end this fight, Randy will.
