The only way to punish that kind of stupidity is to give him the first title shot against Cro Cop. Then he'll learn his lesson.

Man, this post reminds me of how weak the heavyweirght division is now. Its too bad Vera is probably gone, Crocop needs more competetion out there. After Sylvia and maybe AA, cro cop only has two fights left on his contract, thats two O'brien like cans and then he's probably back in Pride to fight Fedor. What a waster of a big name fighter

I love how our forum loves to hate Obrien, LOVE IT! Yeah he talked. He also whipped the shit out of Herring. Crocop would kill Obrien. But in the mean time I would love to see him fight Tim Sylvia. He has the strength and the size to take Tim down EASILY. I say that based on Tim's wonderful performance against Monson in this HW division that is so good that a guy that beat Heath Herring SUX! Obrien has a shit-ton of work to do in GnP and Stand Up but who the fuick has everyone been watching in the UFC HW division that leads them to the opinion that he is far away from the top of the HW division in the UFC?? I hope he wrestles the shit out of every opponent to a decision just so I can get on here and start a thread that says "SEE YOU DON'T NEED STAND UP IN MMA" I would laugh my ass off. Seriously, Oscar de La Hoya and Mayweather are fighting soon in a "Super Bout" there is going to be a ton of stand up and excitement in that bout. Check it out!

O'Brian needs like ten more tough fights before I'd give him to Cro Cop. Of course that will never happen, but he needs lots more experience before he takes on a Champ.

Dont rule out Couture he might win the title and It will be Couture vs CC. Also you dont know for sure that Vera is leaving the UFC he is still negotiating his contract. Also i heard Liddel is interested fighting CC later on.

O'BriensBud has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Knowing Jake and after watching last fight, I would say that he isn't quite ready for a title shot just yet, but on the other hand he trains really hard and any mistake he made last fight he will have fixed by the next time he fights.

I agree with most people in here though, he needs a little more experience but they made him a doormat for Herring and he tripped him. I do believe that he deserves some credit from the UFC and give him a big fight that would make him a contender.

I say if we wants a taste of the top give him AA.

No way would we waste Crocops or Sylvia's (while champ) time. I don't want to see him go against Couture as we already know Randy would school him.

I just want him to feel the pain of AA's right hand. Before he thinks about stepping up the ladder.

I say he is in line for a shot. They gave Monson a shot after three wins (granted it was against higher ranking opponents) and they were going to give Gonzaga a shot after three wins.

If O'Brien beats Vera (they are fighting correct?) then he deserves ahot since Vera was the #1 contender and was going to get the shot at UFC 68 before that fell through.

Obrien v. Vera makes a lot of sense from a business stand point. If he can take Vera down there is a good chance there won't be one of Vera's vicious knockouts and UFC doesn't want anymore highlight reel footage for Vera on their watch. If Obrien were to beat Vera, ugh....give him the title shot easily.
Pogo, I agree with your post. One of Jeff Monson's wins on the road to the title Brandon Lee Hinkle, I don't remember who the other two were but I don't recall anyone who possessed a ton of talent. (I may be wrong and don't have time to look it up) but yeah if Obrien beats Herring then Vera the debate should be closed as to if he is worthy of a title shot.
