O'Brien Wants the Next Title Shot?
This was an article in yesterday's Houston Chronicle and can be found here:
Brawl Sports: Jake O'Brien wants next
He says, that after his win over Herring and 2 other UFC wins,
Quote:

I think it puts me right at the top of the list for the next title shot. I'm 3-0 and with the way the heavyweight division is now, with Cro Cop, Gonzaga ... Randy Couture's back. I think I'm right up there with all of them. One more win, and I'll be right there
|
Does anyone buy this? Does he deserve a shot. Cro Cop gets the winner of Couture vs Sylvia. Then when Mirko wins, he'll probably fight AA. And then wouldn't Sylvia get a second shot at it? I just don't see how he can actually believe this.

No. He may be a very good HW in a few years, but to me he lack experience. Give him a few years, people are always so anxious to rush things.

He says he needs one more win. If that one win was against CroCop, Vera or Arlovski, then maybe. Problem is he wouldn't stand a chance against any of those guys.

What a joke the guy was horrible against Herring all he did was lay and pray. I say if a guy give you his back the whole fight and you cant finish him you dont deserve a title shot

I think O'Brian better come back to planet Earth! As it stands, he isn't even a contender. If his victory over Herring was impressive then it might have been a different story. But as it stands his fight with Herring was garbage.

The guy is 22 completely dominated Heath Herring. People say Lay n Pray. blah. blah. blah. I agree he should have been more active and worked more on the ground but it doesen't change the fact that he forced a fighter like Herring into mistake after mistake. He made Heath look like a second rate nobody. Herring had a hard time even laying a hand on O'brien. So to say he is terrible is a pretty ignorant comment. But with that being said he is dreaming if he thinks he can realisticly compete with Sylvia, AA, or Crocop. He could one day if he improves but not now.

I'm starting to think the ufc is going too far with grooming.
I say feed cro cop o brien as a test vs ufc ground work.
then vera too.
give Vera the super exit match.
Beat crocop and go out as a true champion contender worth your stupid money signing elsewhere or leave discredited and everyone saying the competition paid mad money for a loser.

Nicely said, he needs to definitely improive parts of his game. Very smart fighter, world class wrestler, but still lacks in parets of his game. He should train a little with Team Punishment and learn to GNP from the Guard.
