Nobody here is saying that boxing isnt a good sport or that it doesnt have a great history: It does. Being a boxer is a hard tough business and I think much more dangerous than MMA, especially over many years in competition(remember those big gloves protect the hand not the brain). Whether that takes more heart than MMA though is not so clear. So these guys have the heart to fight well past their prime and sustain head injuries - great, but while that may take heart it also takes a bit of stupidity.

Anyway, the real point is that despite its great history, boxing is actually quite boring. I watched it more for the result than the process, the event. This is particularly true for heavyweight boxing in which holding is the norm. Id rather see two featherweights go at it any day. This is differnt than MMA where I want to watch every second of the fight. I just hope MMA doesnt get as corrupt as boxing - so many titles that they are virtually meaningless in many cases. You think its frustrating having franklin-mcdonald or hughes-lytle, in boxing even title holders will frequently fight cans.
