I think Tito was a little too worried to commit 100% to a takedown, when youve lost once, you think twice before jumping in where you could get your head knocked off.
And also Chuck doesnt mind a few punches if it means he gets back up, which makes his take down defence (or inability to be kept down) excellent. Most are worried about getting hit on the way up, Chuck drops his back to the fence and wall walks not worrying to much about the fists.
Randy seems a little more fearless and commits 100%, he also seems less worried about being hit if it means a takedown, but remember, Randy got to spank Tito so Tito's takedowns are or were not on Randys level.

Ever get the thought that its just Chuck is superior to Titos other opponents? Tito would NEVER be able to do that to Chuck.
Just cause Tito can control one opponent it doesnt mean he can control any opponent, and he knows that.
besides the Coutore fight is a poor example considering he learned alot from that fight and the next two times he put Coutore to sleep.
That fight just made him better in my opinion.
Fact is, Chuck Liddell is an all around better fighter than Tito Ortiz. Obviously a better striker and his wrestling is pretty solid too, which is why Titos strength in wrestling couldnt be a leverage over Chuck.

I think Ortiz is just intimated by Liddell so he seems to be less aggressive towards him than he is against other fighters.

im not taking anything away from chuck, i mean the guy rarely loses, you cant say he isnt a good fighter. it just seemed like tito was just really layin down on the fight, just how lazy the takedowns looked and how he didnt really defend himself at all, it looked like sanchez v.s. cro cop.

Tito was trying but he couldn't do anything against chuck. He couldn't take him down and he couldn't stand with him so thats why it looked like he wasn't trying, Tito just got owned, twice.

Chuck is a better wrestler than Tito. Imo if Tito faces a better wrestler he cannot win. Randy is world class, Chuck was and still is a very good wrestler, and Tito is a decent wrestler. I think that is why Tito can't beat Chuck and why Randy owns Tito. Tito is a great fighter but when you can neutralize his style he doesn't fare as well.

I dont ever recall randy taking Tito down over and over for one thing plus look at what happened in their next two fights. Randys wrestling is on a whole nother level than Titos anyway, he proved that when he spanked him.
There was nothing wrong with Tito except being afraid of getting hit you need to get close to someone in order to get a takedown especially on someone with takedown defense like Chuck and you cant do that when you afraid of getting hit.
Plus I remember hearing Tito say himself that back when he and Chuck trained with Team Punishment together that Chuck usually got the best of him when it came to wrestling. So Chucks probably just an all around better wrestler anyway.

To beat Chuck you have to be able to stand with him Tito could not do this in either fight, end result Tito lost. Chuck is just a bad match-up for him he new this, thats why he ducked him for so long.

to answer original poster... first off ill say im a huge tito fan, but when he fights good fighters, dangerous fighters he is very intimidated. When he cant push them around as easy as lets say ken shamrock. He fights like a *****. for instance like those high leg kicks in there 2nd fight those were rediculus thats a fighter that has run out of options
