Money, K1, a lot of things. Reem is free to do what he wants now he can take time and do what he wants before joining the ufc. Joining the ufc will limit his freedom.

He will end up there one day.

Makes me think how does Showtime feel about the whole situation, they cant be happy at some of the moves Zuffa has pulled since the sell out, First Mayhem and Diaz and now this, hell and if thats not all Zuffa have already before coming in this deal allowed DW to run his mouth publicly against both boxing which they have a high interest in promotion and Showtime as a channel its self.

I hope showtime pull the trigger back somehow, If I was the head of showtime right now I would basically tell Zuffa and Strikeforce to go fcuk its self, Striekforce would be cut from the channel and I am almost certain they will hold the power to do that as well because TV stations always hold the rights to cut any show any time, and to top it off there would be a brand new MMA promotion in the making right now called "Showtime MMA" its would have Overeem on its book for a start and be offering contracts to all the Strikeforce fighters as they become free agents and be on the ball looking for new talent, and there would never be a better time to do it than right now, seriously how much of a shit hole must the UFC look to a lot of fighters right now, the new weights and extended roster yet no extra shows to support the new fighters = less fights for your common guy, a new promotion with a smaller roster been promised so many fights per year guaranteed and been run by a TV network has to hold appeal to a large number of fighters out there, hell the could even through in "you do well and there is chance here you may ebd up with a boxing match pay day in a cross over fight on Showtime boxing, you join the UFC then you have no ******* chance ever of that pay day" in there sales pitch to the fighters.

And I think enough fans are pissed with the UFC and Zuffa for someone to step up a new promotion that does not discriminate against certain fighters and hold double standards on so many aspect from who is fighting for the title to who gets cut for whatever reason, who retires when, hell these are commission and the fighters personal decision, the UFC wants way to strong a hold on there guys, hell if Showtime was to set up its own MMA promotion and run it like it runs boxing like a true sport not some stage show then hell if I was in the UFC I would be waiting for my UFC contract to run out to join Showtime MMA.

This is what happens when you have a monopoly. The UFC/Zuffa couldn't careless what Showtime has to say about the way they do business. Dana wants to negotiate his own deal with Showtime or some other big time network like CBS, that's where the big money is and really it would be better for the fighters, that way they'll be able to get some sort of union or guaranteed benefits. As far as Overeem he had one fight left with Strikeforce and is looking for a big payday.

Overeem sidelined the heavy weight tournament because of his gay little toe injury and refused to fight, then Dana finds out Overeem signed to fight in some bodunk organization the same time of his scheduled HW tournament fight which Zuffa took as a slap in the face so he was cut. Overeem's manager says this bodunk org's fight was scheduled after he was cut, but the new fight wasnt reported until 3 days after Overeem was cut.

Overeem was just used to having his thumb up Coker's arse and doing as he will, but that ish don't cut it with Zuffa. I've always wanted Overeem to move over to the UFC, but this was a dumb move by him and his management. This will postpone if not completely derail his move into the UFC.

SO true, but you can only yank the chain of a network TV station so hard before it bites back, and not only the station, I can't see how the fans can be happy with the way Zuffa is doing business right now, or the fighters, they get a shitty deal out of this too.

I swear I would boycott Zuffa right now as a fan if I was a PPV buyer, hell I would cancel my subscription to ESPN right now if I could except its not really my call since there are 5 of us here all chipping in just £10 per month for the TV deal which includes the Internet that we get that includes all the sports channels, and with the Premiership about to start up next week I would stand alone here wanting to pull ESPN from our combined deal so ESPN is stuck at my place no matter what, but there sure as hell will never be another PPV Strikeforce event ordered here.
