Officials confirm UFC 140 for Toronto's 20,000-seat Air Canada Centre

December's UFC 140 event officially will take place in Toronto.

Officials today announced that the Dec. 10 event, which once was rumored for Montreal, instead takes place at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

No fights are rumored for the event, which is expected to air on pay-per-view a week after The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale on Spike TV.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) passed along news of the event site on Wednesday following an initial report from ESPN.com.

UFC 140 is the organization's second trip to Toronto; the first was the record-breaking UFC 129 event, which took place back in April at Rogers Centre. The stadium show drew 55,724 fans for a live-gate take of $12.075 million ($11.5 million Canadian). Both figures shattered North American MMA records.

Air Canada Centre, which opened in 1999, is a 20,000-seat venue that's currently home to the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and the NBA's Toronto Raptors. It's located in downtown Toronto.
I thought it was gonna be the rogers centre again.

Outside in Decemeber in Canada? Common sense people, they'd be froze to death.

This should sell out easily, and hopefully I get my dream match of Hendo/Machida.

rogers centre has a roof on it, and with 55,000 people it would probably get pretty warm in there.

I would guess that it's just easier to use the Air Canada arena and they can probably charge more for tickets since there will be less available.
