Spike TV says its good byes

Quote:
Spike TV formally ends their relationship with the UFC:

"The Ultimate Fighter" season 14 in September will be our last. We are increasing our commitment to distinctive, original series that we own such as "Auction Hunters" and "Bar Rescue" which are delivering on our goal to reach a broader audience. Our 6-year partnership with the UFC has been incredibly beneficial in building both our brands, and we wish them all the best in the future."

I will miss you Spike. I give you alot of playing time in my home. Bar Rescue is a interesting show. Auction hunters is the worst of the auction shows. Remove the fat tattooed guy and the skinny guy and get some better people and the show will be great. Storage Wars is a good example of what that show can be.

We are increasing our commitment to distinctive, original series that we own such as "Auction Hunters" and "Bar Rescue" which are delivering on our goal to reach a broader audience.

Anyone think there is some bitterness in that sentence?

SpikeTV was never good, the only thing Spike ever did was to be the first one to say yes on taking a chance on MMA. What does anyone really watch on Spike? it's all a load of garbage and the UFC knew that if they want to reach the next level in exposure and relevance, they need to go to a bigger cable station. SpikeTV will be bitter because they will slowly go under the sink now that all UFC events will slowly disapear.

Once SNET in Canada started broadcasting UFC/MMA events, I stopped watching Spike all together. Not to mention SNET broadcasts all televised shows in HD, for no extra cost.

Ditto. Good riddance to Spike you commercial ridden piece of crap. Every show they ever had (all of which were unwatchable garbage except the UFC stuff) had more commercial than show.

**** you Spike TV.

Iíll give props to Spike because they did take a chance and Iím happy for them it worked out as long as it did. I came across TUF 1 by chance and was wondering what the hell it was. My wife and I were watching a lot of reality tv at the time so I figure meh Iím bored, itís raining and Iíll see what happens. By the end of the episode when two guys were actually going to fight I was hooked! Spike needed content (and does so even more now) but I still give them credit for the part they played in what is the exposure that MMA gets today. I think if they would not have started sticking their fingers into fighter selection UFC and spike would still be in business, but thatís how things go.

Bellator would be a good fit for them, but as other posters have mentioned in Canada we got lots of sports dedicated channels that carry TUF, Bellator and a few others so I donít know what Spike is going to do now. One more Star Wars marathon and I may turn off the TV for good, but probably Iíll just try to drop Spike from my channels.

It's too bad...all good things must come to an end I suppose. At least there's that "Man Show" still or the segment on all the different ways to die; warrior vs warrior. Yah come to think of it they got a lot of fun content.

Yes, original series like auction hunters which you copied from another network. Oh and don't forget 1000 ways to die and manswers, two exceptional shows to reach a broader audience. The only time I watch Spike is for a Csi re-run frmo time to time, now nothing in prime time with UFC leaving.

Why would they need the UFC anyway. They just signed Blue Mountain State for another season.

Then they got deadliest warrior, manswers, and 1000 ways to die. Spike is doin awesome.

I like Spike for airing the first TUF.

But, it seems like they short changed TUF in terms of editing & production quality the last few runs which causes me to loath them.
