Could Shogun Make 185lbs?

I've been wondering this. He always looks fat for an MMA fighter. I'm 200lbs and I appear to be in far better shape then he is (I know I'm not). I just don't think it would be that hard for him to make 185lbs if he got on the Dolce Diet and actually ate healthy and trained full-time.

I saw a picture of him on twitter once and he was eating some pasta or something similar, I hear he enjoys cookies and what not during his camp, so he could very easily lose some weight, he's never been ripped even in his Machida fights and I never saw him with a six pack even in his PRIDE fights, so if he got on a good diet, probably. I believe him, Machida, and Rashad all weigh the same when they're not fighting or are all in the same vicinity and a lot of people believe Machida and Rashad could make 185.

But why should he? No shame in losing to Jones and Forrest if he does lose to Forrest.

The man is rarely in shape at 205 now a days, asking him to cut to 185 would be suicide.

The guy is 6'1" and not especially large-framed for a LHW.

I could see him making 185, but I doubt he sees it, and that's what matters.

Might provide some new life for those worn out knees...

Shogun barely cuts weight to make 205.
He could make 185 if he did that sauna cut US fighters do.

Shogun cutting weight is not going to help his take down defense, and his cardio will get worse.

No doubt he could make 185. There are bigger guys than shogun fighting at MW.

Now the question is how would he perform at 185? Cutting more weight doesn't always lead to more success especially with a guy like Shogun who isn't used to cutting large amounts of weight. I think the best Shogun shows up at 205.

I think Anderson is bigger then Shogun and cuts around 20pounds for a fight. Shogun could probably make 185 if he went on a strict diet during those 8-12 weeks he trains. I think he is just one of those guys that don't like cutting too much weight and like to eat whatever they want during camp, for the most part.

The same can be said about many fighters though. Cain Valasquez could probably make LHW if he went on a diet. He comes into a fight around 240 with plenty of fat around his waist. When you take a look at someone like Rampage who walk around 230-240 during his off days and he is more muscular then Cain.

Could and would are two different things.

Shogun could make 185 a lot easier than a lot of 185ers. I heard his wife once caught him after he checked into a hotel room near their home. She found him blacked out with empty tubes of chocolate chip cookie dough and burger wrappers all around him.
