I think it was Strikeforce's lack of fore-site. I mean the math wasn't that hard, he only had 2 fights left on his contract and he needed to fight 3 fights to win the tourney. Seems like someone at Strikeforce would have made him sign an agreement to a one fight extension if he made the finals, before they let him enter the tourney. He would have been in a really good spot if he made the final and they then had to re-negotiate to get him to fight in it. Zuffa could do the math and put a halt to it right then. Showtime must have realized the problem not to accommodate Overeem. As someone else mentioned he was probably their biggest draw.

His standup is terrible and so is his defense in all areas. Overeem is strong and is a good kickboxer with solid muay thai. He got his ass k.o.'d badly by two lightheavyweights and all of his latest fights he has looked very underwhelming. Neither of these two are as skilled as cain or jds. id like 2 see brock fight mir in a rubber match and reem should take on kongo before either of these two guys are in a number 1 contender match. But seeing as though they both have all that hype around them im guessing that one of these two will be getting the winner of cain vs. jds.
I've not really seen anyone say Overeem is the best Heavyweight in the world, everyone I've talked to generally agrees it's Cain, Overeem has a lot of hype but rightfully so, granted it was an underwhelming win, he did beat Werdum who was a consensus top five. I have my doubts he'll be the Champion, but if Pat Barry can rock Kongo, can you imagine what Reem would do to him?

I also know a lot of people don't like the fact Brock got shot to the top quickly but his dismantling of Heath Herring was a big deal at the time, complete destruction of a guy who had 40 more fights than Brock. Brock also didn't just beat him with his wrestling, he rocked him in the stand up and Lesnar has since gone on to prove he's without question a top ten Heavyweight. He's only 5-2, he's had less than ten fights and I'm sure he'll make improvements if he can keep his health intact.

A fight I want to see is Overeem vs Kongo just so he can show what a real kickboxer is. Then Pat Barry.

Realistically it's probably going to be Brock or if not I'm definitely down to see him challenge for the HW title right off the bat!

THE REEM RUNS SUPREME!

1. Overrated is if someone got a title shot, doesnt deserve it and sucks balls thereafter. Think Dan Hardy circa after his title shot. He was heavily overrated with many ppl thinking he had a decent chance to KO GSP. Thats overrated. Brock and Reem showed they deserved their place in the top level by winning.

2. You might say that Cain is more skilled than Reem cuz he has great striking and great wrestling, however I cant connect the dots with your JDS comparison. They are both strikers, JDS has done amazing things in the UFC, but Reem has showcased his exceptional striking as well. Is there some other amazing skill that you have seen from JDS that we have not? No TD, decent TD defence, unknown BJJ. That in a nuthell is JDS in the other areas outside of striking.

3. Are you really bringing up Reem's losses to Chuck and Shogun from god knows how many years ago? Really? Do you think Anderson Silva's losses to Ryo Chonan and some others really matters when determining how good the guy is today?

I am not arguing that Reem is better than JDS or Cain, most likely probably not but you have 2 guys who you believe is more skilled. 3rd best HW isnt that bad of a title IMO and hardly makes someone overrated and garbage.

never said they were garbage i just said niether one of them is best hw in the world like alot of media and fans seem to think(reem more so than brock). As far as JDS goes his grappling and tdd is so superb that we dont know how good his other skills are...cant blame him 4 that. hopefully jds wins the title and reem gets the next shot so we could make some type of bet if you would be willing?
